The Miami Heat aren’t done star-chasing - not by a long shot. With the 2026 offseason looming, Pat Riley and the Heat front office are once again preparing to reload and retool, aiming high as always.
And at the top of their wish list? Giannis Antetokounmpo.
This isn’t exactly breaking news - Miami’s interest in Giannis has been a long-running subplot in the NBA’s ongoing power shuffle. But as the Greek Freak approaches a pivotal offseason where he’ll have the chance to sign a long-term extension with Milwaukee, the Heat are watching closely.
Until that pen hits paper, Miami’s not pivoting. They’re staying locked in on the possibility, no matter how slim it may seem.
Still, this is the NBA - contingency plans are a must, and Miami’s got theirs. If Giannis stays put, the Heat could turn their attention to another high-octane talent: Ja Morant.
The Grizzlies star has had a turbulent couple of seasons, but there’s no denying the electricity he brings to the court. His athleticism, shot creation, and ability to take over games make him an intriguing fallback option for a team that thrives on competitive fire and big moments.
But Morant isn’t the only name worth circling. Donovan Mitchell is another All-Star who could find himself in play depending on how things shake out in Cleveland.
The Heat have been linked to Mitchell in the past, and the timing might finally be right to rekindle that interest. Mitchell has just one guaranteed year left on his deal after this season, and if the Cavaliers stumble early in the playoffs again, it could force Cleveland to rethink their long-term direction.
That doesn’t mean Mitchell is definitely on the move - far from it. But if the Cavs feel the pressure to shake things up, Miami could be among the first teams knocking at the door.
And this time, the Heat are better equipped to make a serious offer. With a refreshed asset pool that includes the flexibility to move three or four future first-round picks, they’ve got the firepower to make a real run at a star.
Let’s be honest - the Heat’s trade deadline was a letdown for fans hoping for a splash. But that doesn’t mean the front office is backing off its aggressive approach.
If anything, it’s a sign they’re saving their chips for a bigger move this summer. That’s always been the Riley way: patience, precision, and pouncing when the time is right.
So, will the Heat land their next big name this offseason? That part’s still unwritten.
But one thing’s for sure - Miami’s not standing still. They’re hunting stars, and they’re not settling for anything less.
