According to NBA insider Jake Fischer, the Miami Heat and Boston Celtics are showing interest in the veteran guard after he declined his $5.6 million player option with the Clippers. Beal is one of several notable free agents still on the board, but his market is thin after a season in which he played just six games.

Miami stands out as the cleaner fit on paper. After trading for Giannis Antetokounmpo, the Heat are short on depth in multiple spots, and Beal could help stabilize the backcourt.
Even if his role is reduced to knocking down the occasional three, that kind of spacing would matter for a team that has already lost so much shooting. The Heat are not expected to move until LeBron James makes his decision, but his choice could push them further toward a win-now approach.
Boston presents a different kind of possibility. There’s less clarity there, but the Celtics’ established environment could be appealing for a player trying to reset his career. With critics already skeptical because of Jaylen Brown’s absence, Boston would be banking on the combined presence of Jayson Tatum, Derrick White, Paul George, and Beal to keep them in the mix with the league’s top teams.
