The Miami Heat’s LeBron James watch has officially moved into full delusion season, and the timing could not be more on-brand. With the league moratorium lifted Monday, Miami’s week opened with Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bobby Portis officially on board, and the dream scenario now has James sliding back into No. 6 alongside the new No. 7.
That’s the pitch, anyway. And for Heat fans, the idea is simple: pair James with Antetokounmpo and Bam Adebayo, keep Andrew Wiggins in the mix after his recent re-signing, and suddenly the path back to the NBA Finals looks a whole lot cleaner.
Miami hasn’t been there since 2020, when it fell just short in the bubble. James, now 41 and still the all-time scoring leader, won the title that year with the Lakers on Disney property in Lake Buena Vista.
The Heat would love to see him come back and chase another one in South Florida before he calls it a career.
For now, the process is being handled from a distance. NBA insider Chris Haynes said on NBA TV that James does not plan to sit down with teams and hear presentations. Instead, his agent, Klutch Sports CEO Rich Paul, is gathering the information and passing it along so James can eventually narrow the field.
That matters for Miami, because the Heat are now in position to sell their vision with real firepower. Antetokounmpo and Portis are officially in the fold, giving the team a stronger foundation to explain how James would fit on both ends next to Giannis and Bam.
Antetokounmpo, for his part, already sounds sold. After streamer N3on tricked him with fake reports that James had signed with the Cavaliers, he reacted by saying, "Touch my heart bro.

He later said he considered James the goat and loved watching him play. That’s one way to recruit a four-time MVP.
The outside noise keeps coming from everywhere else, too. Iman Shumpert said Miami gives James a better shot at winning than Cleveland, even if the Cavs reunion would be the sentimental storyline. Mario Chalmers, meanwhile, said he would pick Golden State as James’ eventual landing spot.
The Warriors are still in the mix, but not with much confidence. Anthony Slater reported that Golden State has “a low level of optimism” James will choose them, though the team is still leaving roster space open until the decision is made.
The ties are obvious - Stephen Curry, Draymond Green and Steve Kerr all have relationships with James - but the Warriors are also dealing with a West that already has plenty of heavy hitters. They are not expected to match the offer sheet Memphis gave center Quinten Post as they try to preserve flexibility, and they have until 11:59 p.m.

Philadelphia has also entered the conversation. Windhorst said on Pardon My Take that the 76ers started pursuing James right after acquiring Jaylen Brown, and the league currently believes Cleveland is the favorite. The Sixers do have a recruiter in their corner because Tyrese Maxey is represented by Klutch Sports and is admired by James, which is enough to keep them on the list of threats.
For Miami, though, the dream remains the same: keep building the case, wait for Rich Paul’s calls to run their course, and hope James decides the Heat are the best place to make one more championship push.
