The Miami Heat’s offseason keeps pointing toward one familiar name: Gabe Vincent.
Bam Adebayo reportedly wants Miami to bring the guard back, and that possibility has only gained steam as the summer has gone on. The Heat have already added several veterans, and the idea is that those pieces should start to click more naturally the longer they’re together.
Michael Saenz of AUCH said Vincent is a player whose name has surfaced as Miami looks to strengthen its supporting cast, writing: “As the Miami Heat continue to explore ways to build out the supporting cast around Giannis Antetokounmpo in year one, Gabe Vincent is a name that has naturally come up. And, according to some recent reporting, he's a former Heat player that Bam Adebayo would love to see get a second chapter with the organization,”
NBA insider Brett Siegel also said a reunion looks realistic.
“I would expect them to go guard for one of their final spots, I think a Gabe Vincent reunion there makes a lot of sense, especially since Bam Adebayo and Erik Spoelstra have been big advocates for him ever since Summer League. I would think that it is very likely at this point that they would give that to Gabe Vincent if he’s willing to take a minimum (contract) there.
I would expect them to go guard for one of their final spots. I think that Gabe Vincent, a reunion there makes a lot of sense,” Siegel said.
Vincent is coming off a rough stretch with the Los Angeles Lakers. He was traded at the deadline last season.
“The Los Angeles Lakers have acquired guard Luke Kennard from the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for guard Gabe Vincent and a 2032 second-round pick, the team announced on Thursday night,” ESPN wrote.
Even with that recent struggle, Vincent has shown he can contribute and fit into the kind of culture Miami wants. Before his Lakers stint, he had put together productive seasons, and a return to the Heat would give him another chance in a place where he already has support.
Vincent has made $37 million throughout his career. If Adebayo keeps pushing and Miami wants one more guard for the roster, a reunion would make plenty of sense.
