Chris Bosh Shares Health Update Heat Fans Have Waited Years For

Chris Bosh, a pivotal figure in the Miami Heat's "Big Three," shares how he's navigating his health challenges since his forced early retirement from the NBA.

Chris Bosh says his health is in a good place as he continues to manage the blood clot condition that ended his playing career early.

In a recent interview with FOS News, the former Miami Heat star said, “Yeah, you know, the health is good," Bosh said in an interview with FOS News. "I got off to a bit of a rough start for 2026 back in January, but I take my medicine.

I make sure I've seen more doctors than I've seen in my whole lifetime of being an athlete. I'm making sure I'm taking the precautions, and that's going well.”

Bosh’s NBA run was one of the league’s biggest what-ifs. His career stopped in 2016 after he couldn’t recover from a blood clot diagnosis, though he didn’t officially retire until 2019. He played his final season at age 31.

A member of the 2003 draft class that also included LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony and Dwyane Wade, Bosh went No. 4 overall to the Toronto Raptors and developed into a perennial All-Star there. He spent years being somewhat overlooked early in his career before breaking into superstardom in the summer of 2010.

That summer, he joined James and Wade in Miami, forming a Heat trio that ranked among the league’s best. The “Big Three” delivered two championships and reached the NBA Finals four straight times.

The run ended when James left for the Cleveland Cavaliers in the summer of 2014, but Miami still had momentum. The Heat added All-Star guard Goran Dragic from the Phoenix Suns in February 2015, and many believed the team could stay near the top of the Eastern Conference.

Instead, the season unraveled when Bosh was diagnosed with blood clots during the All-Star break. The clots traveled to his lungs, and although he briefly returned later in his career, the condition came back.

Bosh was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2021.

Heat Suddenly Need More From Davion Mitchell Than Ever Before

Miamis backcourt picture looks different now, and the Heat are left sorting out where the next reliable playmaking has to come from. Davion Mitchell has become one of the more interesting answers on the roster, not just because of his reputation as a rugged defender, but because he showed real signs last season that he can do more than hound ballhandlers and survive minutes.

Mitchells offensive growth gave Miami a reason to keep leaning on him, and the summer only added to the intrigue. He spent part of the offseason working out with Giannis Antetokounmpo in Greece, a reminder that his next step may come from handling bigger responsibilities in a more demanding role. If the Heat are going to stabilize the offense, Mitchell looks like a player who could be right in the middle of it. [Read more 🡒]

Heat Face One Huge Roster Decision After Missing On Another Star

Miamis offseason has already taken a dramatic turn, with the Heat landing Giannis Antetokounmpo in a recent trade even as they paid a steep price in depth to get him. That kind of move usually changes the whole conversation around a roster, but it also creates a new one: how to patch the holes left behind while keeping enough talent around a star who can tilt the East on his own.

One name that has surfaced in that search is Bradley Beal, a former high-level scorer whose market has shifted after a rough stretch and a hip injury. If Miami goes that route, it would likely be chasing value more than splash, weighing whether Beal still has enough left to help a contender or whether the Heat need to keep looking for a cleaner fit as they try to round out the roster.
