The Miami Heat have hit a rough patch lately, dropping their last few games. Yet, the buzz around Bam Adebayo's jaw-dropping 83-point performance, the second highest in NBA history, continues to echo through the basketball world.
This feat placed him ahead of Kobe Bryant and just behind Wilt Chamberlain in the record books. While many are celebrating this achievement, some are questioning the methods Miami employed to help Adebayo reach such heights.
Austin Rivers, a former NBA guard, voiced his skepticism on The Ryen Russillo Show. He threw down a challenge to Adebayo, suggesting that a 30-point game against Victor Wembanyama would impress him more than the 83-point spectacle against the Wizards.
Adebayo will have his shot to rise to that challenge when the Heat face off against Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs on Monday night.
The Heat are navigating a tough stretch in their schedule, having lost four straight and slipping into the play-in zone in the Eastern Conference. Despite Adebayo's impressive 32 points and 21 rebounds in a recent game against the Houston Rockets, Miami fell short when Amen Thompson tipped in a Kevin Durant miss at the buzzer.
Earlier this season, Adebayo had a standout performance against the Spurs on their home turf. He'll need to replicate that effort to help Miami bounce back against a San Antonio squad that's been on a roll lately.
The showdown between the Heat and Spurs is set for 7:00 pm ET.
