“Wembanyama's their leading scorer, and he's versatile across the floor. He's a different player than Bam, but when prepping for Bam, you have to consider his presence everywhere-handling, screening, playing at the three-point line, in the post, and off drives. He's a multi-faceted threat,” Spoelstra noted.
Spoelstra emphasized the importance of defensive readiness against a player like Wembanyama, who can alter the game with his rim protection. “You can't ignore his presence at the rim.
They have a strong defense, and he changes a lot at the basket. We need to be aware of our outlets while sticking to our game plan.”
Adebayo and Wembanyama are also potential contenders for the NBA's Defensive Player of the Year (DPOY). Adebayo, known for his ability to guard all positions, has yet to claim the award, while Wembanyama, a leading shot-blocker, is making his case.

“San Antonio's defense has been top-notch, but we're closing in,” Spoelstra continued. “It depends on your preference-a shot-blocking unicorn like Wembanyama, or a versatile one-through-five defender like Bam. Both have unique impacts on the game.”
For Adebayo and the Heat, the goal is to finish the season strong and avoid the play-in tournament. Entering the game against the Spurs, Miami stands at 38-33, placing them ninth in the Eastern Conference.
