Panthers Eye Bradley Chubb Amidst Dolphins' Recent Roster Changes

Panthers eye a strategic move for standout pass rusher Bradley Chubb amidst potential Dolphins cap decisions.

Panthers GM Dan Morgan has his sights set on Dolphins OLB Bradley Chubb, describing him as a "productive pass rusher." It seems Carolina is keen to explore what Chubb might bring to their defense.

While initially reported as a release candidate by the Dolphins, Chubb's status remains unofficial. If he's released post-June 1st, Miami could benefit from cap savings, making him a hot prospect for teams like the Panthers.

Chubb, 29, was a standout from the 2018 NFL Draft, picked fifth overall by the Broncos. His rookie contract was a hefty four-year, $27.271 million deal, fully guaranteed and featuring a $17.913 million signing bonus. Denver exercised his fifth-year option for $12.716 million in 2022 before trading him to Miami midseason, where he inked a new five-year, $110 million contract.

To manage their cap, the Dolphins restructured Chubb's deal twice, freeing up over $30 million in total. Last season, Chubb was a force on the field, participating in all 17 games and racking up 47 tackles, eight tackles for loss, 8.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery.

With these stats, it's no wonder the Panthers are interested. Chubb's potential availability could be a game-changer for their defense, adding a dynamic edge presence that could elevate their pass rush to new heights.
