Miami Dolphins Add Former Eagles Coach to Key Offensive Role

The Dolphins turn to a familiar NFC face to guide their air attack, betting on experience over recent results.

The Miami Dolphins are bringing in a new mind to help shape their aerial attack, hiring former Eagles offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo as their passing game coordinator. It’s a notable addition to Jeff Hafley’s staff, and one that carries both experience and intrigue.

Patullo steps into this role after a mixed 2025 season running the offense in Philadelphia. The Eagles' unit struggled to maintain the explosive identity that helped them win a Super Bowl just a year prior.

In 2024, Philly was flying high-top 10 in both scoring and total offense, and second in the league in rushing. But last season, the wheels came off a bit.

The Eagles dropped to 19th in scoring (22.3 points per game) and 24th in total offense, a steep fall from their 27.2 points per game and No. 8 total offense ranking the year before.

The passing game did show some signs of life, improving from 29th to 23rd, but that came at a cost. The run game, once the engine of their offense, took a major step back.

Saquon Barkley, who led the league with 2,005 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns in 2024, saw his production dip to 1,140 yards and seven scores. His yards per carry dropped from a dominant 5.8 to a pedestrian 4.1.

That’s not just a statistical dip-it’s a sign of a scheme that lost its balance.

Despite the regression, Patullo remains a respected figure in coaching circles. He’s been part of Nick Sirianni’s staff in Philly since 2021, originally serving as passing game coordinator before being promoted to associate head coach in 2023. His familiarity with modern offensive concepts and quarterback development is part of what makes him an intriguing fit in Miami.

Dolphins head coach Jeff Hafley, who’s reshaping his staff in his first year at the helm, is betting on Patullo’s experience and adaptability. While the Eagles’ offense didn’t hit its marks last season, Patullo has been part of a Super Bowl-winning staff and has helped develop one of the league’s more dynamic offenses in recent years. That kind of pedigree doesn’t go unnoticed.

Back in Philadelphia, the coaching change didn’t come without reflection. “I have decided to make a change at offensive coordinator,” Sirianni said in a statement.

“Kevin is a great coach who has my utmost respect. He’s been integral to this team’s success over the last five years-not just on the field, but as a leader behind the scenes.

Ultimately, when we fall short of our goals, that responsibility lies on my shoulders.”

Now, Patullo gets a fresh start in Miami, where the Dolphins are looking to build on a promising core and elevate their passing game to the next level. With Hafley assembling his vision for the franchise, this hire signals a commitment to evolving their offensive identity-and Patullo will be a key part of that equation.
