The Philadelphia Eagles are wasting no time in their search for a new offensive coordinator, and one of the names on their radar is Bobby Slowik, currently the Dolphins’ senior passing game coordinator. According to reports, the Eagles have officially requested to interview Slowik for the vacancy.
It’s been a whirlwind year for Slowik, who joined Miami’s staff for the 2025 season. That stint turned out to be short-lived after the Dolphins parted ways with head coach Mike McDaniel, prompting a shakeup across the offensive staff. But Slowik’s résumé goes deeper than just one season in South Florida.
Before heading to Miami, Slowik spent two seasons calling plays for the Houston Texans. His first year in 2023 was a breakout campaign, with rookie quarterback C.J.
Stroud leading an offense that ranked seventh in the league in total yards per game. The system was dynamic, creative, and perfectly tailored to Stroud’s strengths - a blend of timing, accuracy, and vertical aggression that had Houston looking like a team on the rise.
But 2024 told a different story. Stroud hit a sophomore slump, the offense sputtered, and the Texans took a step back. That regression ultimately cost Slowik his job in Houston, but it hasn’t stopped teams from recognizing the upside in his offensive mind.
At 38, Slowik brings 13 years of NFL experience across both sides of the ball. His coaching roots trace back to Washington, where he got his start as a defensive assistant from 2011 to 2013.
But it was in San Francisco where his offensive identity began to take shape. Over six seasons with the 49ers, he climbed the ranks - from defensive quality control to offensive assistant, then offensive pass game specialist, and finally passing game coordinator in 2022.
That year, the Niners’ offense hit its stride, showcasing a balanced, motion-heavy attack that leaned into misdirection and play-action - hallmarks of the Shanahan coaching tree, which Slowik is firmly rooted in.
The Eagles’ interest in Slowik suggests they’re looking for a coordinator with a modern, quarterback-friendly approach - someone who can maximize Jalen Hurts’ dual-threat capabilities while keeping the offense unpredictable and efficient. It’s worth noting that Slowik’s background includes working with both pocket passers and mobile quarterbacks, giving him a versatile toolkit to work with.
He’s not the only candidate on Philly’s list. The team is also eyeing Colts offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter and former Giants head coach Brian Daboll. Each brings a different flavor to the table - Cooter with his experience developing young quarterbacks, and Daboll with a reputation for creative scheming and adaptability.
But Slowik stands out as a high-upside play. Despite a rocky 2024, his body of work - particularly his development of Stroud in Year 1 and his deep ties to one of the league’s most innovative offensive systems - makes him an intriguing option for an Eagles team that still has championship aspirations.
This hire is going to be a critical one. With a talented core in place and expectations sky-high, the Eagles need someone who can recalibrate the offense and bring back the explosiveness that defined their recent success. Whether that’s Bobby Slowik or another name on the list, the next OC in Philly will be stepping into one of the most scrutinized - and opportunity-rich - roles in the league.
