The New York Jets are heading into Week 7 with the same big question at running back: Breece Hall.
Hall has been out since Week 3 with a quadriceps injury, and while he did take a step forward this week by getting in a pair of limited practices, he still ended up with a questionable designation on Friday. That left his status hanging right up to kickoff against the Miami Dolphins.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Hall is not expected to play on Sunday, though there is at least a small possibility he could test things before the game.
“Jets star RB Breece Hall, attempting to return from a quad strain after missing three games, is unlikely to play today, sources say. He may work out to see if he can go, but Hall hasn’t been a full participant yet. It’s a bit early,” Rapoport reported.
That lines up with the expectation from earlier in the week. Hall never got in a full practice, and with Braelon Allen handling the job well in his absence, there’s no real reason for the Jets to push Hall back too soon.
Allen, meanwhile, is the back fantasy managers should be locking into lineups. Over the last two games, he has piled up more than 41 carries for 194 yards and a touchdown on the ground, plus three catches for 26 yards. In that stretch, he ranks as RB9 according to Fantasy Pros, and he’s RB18 overall since taking over lead-back duties in Week 4.
The matchup only strengthens the case. Allen gets a Miami Dolphins defense that is giving up the second-most fantasy points per game to backs in 2026, according to CBS Sports.

Dolphins Need More From A Few Struggling Starters Against The Jets
The Dolphins are heading into their first divisional test of the 2026 season with a familiar kind of urgency, the kind that tends to surface when a handful of starters need cleaner work before the margin gets any thinner. Against the Jets, Miami will be watching the trenches closely, with Austin Jackson carrying a heavy load on the right side and Chris Johnson and Chop Robinson also under the microscope as the Dolphins look to limit the kind of errors that can quickly tilt a division game.
Malik Willis adds another layer to that equation, because Miami needs steadier play from the quarterback spot to keep the offense on schedule against a defense that can make life difficult. The Jets arrive with one of the leagues best pass defenses, so the Dolphins do not have much room for the sloppy stretches that have shown up before. For Miami, the challenge is simple enough to say and hard enough to solve: get more from the players who have been up and down, and do it quickly enough to avoid letting an early divisional game get away. Dolphins Face One Trade Deadline Test They May Not Budge On
With the trade deadline approaching, the Dolphins are shaping up as sellers, but one name appears to be off the table for now. ESPN reporters Adam Schefter and Ian Rapoport said Miami is expected to listen on some pieces, yet the team views its young edge rush group as part of the future, not a short-term source of help for someone else.
Chop Robinson is the clearest example of that stance. A 2024 first-round pick with multiple years of contract control remaining, he should draw interest from teams looking for pass-rush help, but Miami does not currently plan to move him this season. For a club weighing its deadline options, that kind of line in the sand says plenty about which players it believes still fit into the long view. [Read more 🡒]
Malik Willis Just Changed A Bigger Dolphins Conversation
Malik Willis did not have eye-popping passing numbers, but he still ended up at the center of Miamis first win of the Jeff Hafley era against the Jets. The Dolphins got better answers from the offense as the game went on, with cleaner decision-making and a special teams effort that held up its end, and the ground game helped set the tone late.
The broader takeaway was bigger than the stat sheet. Miami also got a meaningful lift from Caleb Douglas in his return from injury, and his late touchdown gave the Dolphins a finishing punch they had been missing. Between the balanced offense and the way the team closed things out, the performance offered a different kind of hint about where this group might be headed. [Read more 🡒]
