The Dallas Cowboys are on the hunt for a linebacker solution, and they're eyeing two seasoned pros from the AFC to fill that gap.
Reports suggest that Dallas is considering a trade for Houston Texans linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair or Miami Dolphins linebacker Jordyn Brooks. Notably, the Cowboys have moved away from pursuing Patrick Queen from the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Al-Shaair would be a dynamic addition to the Cowboys' defense, known for his physicality, run-stopping skills, and reliable pass coverage. His impressive 2025 season, highlighted by a Pro Bowl selection, saw him rack up 103 tackles and 42 defensive stops.
On the other hand, Brooks is coming off a stellar year, earning first-team All-Pro honors. He led the league with 183 tackles and recorded 61 defensive stops, ranking fourth among linebackers. With Miami in rebuild mode and having already traded away Jaylen Waddle, Brooks could potentially be available, offering Dallas a prime opportunity to bolster their defense.
The Cowboys are keen to enhance their defensive core before the 2026 season kicks off. While acquiring Al-Shaair or Brooks won't be easy, given their importance to their current teams, Dallas seems prepared to part with significant draft assets to make it happen.
