Chiefs Linked To Tyreek Hill Amid Injury Recovery Buzz

Chiefs are keeping a close watch on Tyreek Hill's recovery, fueling buzz about a possible return amid questions about his readiness for the new season.

When the Dolphins decided to part ways with wide receiver Tyreek Hill, it didn't take long for the rumor mill to start buzzing about a possible return to the Kansas City Chiefs. However, head coach Andy Reid recently put the brakes on those speculations, stating that as of now, there's nothing brewing between the Chiefs and Hill. He also expressed uncertainty about Hill's current health status.

According to ESPN's Nate Taylor, the Chiefs are keeping an eye on Hill's recovery process. The star receiver is dealing with severe leg injuries, and it's still up in the air whether he'll be ready for the season opener. Hill's injury woes began with a dislocated knee last September, which led to multiple torn ligaments and a grueling rehab journey that might require several surgeries.

Hill, now 31, originally entered the NFL as a fifth-round pick by the Chiefs in 2016. He was in the final year of his rookie contract in 2019 when the Chiefs extended him with a lucrative three-year, $54 million deal, including $35.2 million guaranteed.

The Chiefs traded Hill to the Dolphins in the 2022 offseason, where he inked a four-year, $120 million contract with $72.2 million guaranteed. Later, he adjusted his contract to a three-year, $90 million deal with $65 million guaranteed, set to start in 2024. Despite these moves, Miami released Hill in February 2026 as he was still recovering from his leg injury.

During the 2025 season, Hill managed to play in just four games for the Dolphins, recording 21 receptions on 29 targets for 265 yards and a touchdown. The uncertainty surrounding his health and future remains a key storyline as the NFL offseason unfolds.
