The Kansas City Chiefs' ground game is at a crossroads, with both Isiah Pacheco and Kareem Hunt set to hit free agency. The Chiefs are exploring options to bolster their backfield, with names like Breece Hall and Travis Etienne already in the mix. But now, there's another intriguing possibility on the horizon.
Enter Miami Dolphins running back De'Von Achane. As the Dolphins embark on a rebuild, trade rumors swirl around their star players. ESPN's Dan Graziano suggests that while a deal for Achane would be challenging, the Chiefs are a potential destination.
"The league seems to believe the Dolphins are in a full rebuild," Graziano noted. "They're getting calls on all their star players.
While it seems more likely they'll extend Achane's contract, they're still picking up the phone. Any trade for Achane would be a long shot, requiring a very enticing offer."
So, could Achane find his way to Kansas City? According to ESPN, there's only a 10% chance of a trade happening. Yet, that slim possibility shouldn't deter the Chiefs from making inquiries.
The key factor here is the asking price. The Chiefs are unlikely to splurge on Achane, especially with the potential to snag Jeremiyah Love in the NFL Draft.
But a phone call to test the waters? That's a no-brainer.
While the Dolphins may be reluctant to part with Achane, the Chiefs can certainly explore their options.
Stay tuned for more developments as the NFL offseason heats up.
