The NFL trade deadline is still a few weeks off, but Adam Schefter is already pointing to four teams that could start acting like sellers before Nov. 10.
On The Pat McAfee Show, Schefter named the Miami Dolphins, Los Angeles Chargers, Tennessee Titans and Arizona Cardinals as clubs to watch if they decide the smarter move is to trim salary and add draft picks rather than keep pushing through rough starts. For all four, the record tells the story.
"The teams that you look at are the teams that aren't winning that can shed salaries and pickup draft picks..

Tennessee and Los Angeles are in particularly ugly spots. The Titans are 0-5 after Sunday’s 26-3 loss to Houston, while the Chargers also sit at 0-5 after falling 23-17 to the Denver Broncos. The Chargers’ situation is even messier because of the injuries that have piled up and made it hard to get any real read on the roster.
Arizona, meanwhile, has already made a bold move of its own. The Cardinals traded wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. to the Houston Texans and got a 2027 second-round pick and a sixth-round pick in return, along with Harrison and a seventh-round selection going the other way.
Their season has been shaky since, with Arizona winning in Week 1 against the Chargers and then dropping four straight. The defense has also been hit hard, giving up 45 points to Detroit in Week 5.
Miami has been down this road too. The Dolphins began reshaping their roster during the offseason by dealing away major pieces like Jaylen Waddle, and they could keep looking for ways to build for later instead of chasing short-term fixes.
Schefter’s point was simple: when losses keep stacking up, teams can start viewing the deadline as a chance to collect future assets and move veterans who no longer fit the plan. And right now, these four have given enough reasons to at least listen.

Dolphins Could Be Headed For A Brutal QB Decision In 2027
The Dolphins are already forced to think beyond a rough 0-5 start, and that means quarterback planning has started to bleed into conversations about the 2027 NFL Draft. With uncertainty surrounding Malik Willis as anything more than a short-term answer, Miami is doing what teams in this spot often do: scanning the horizon for a quarterback class that could eventually reset the franchises timeline.
One name that keeps surfacing is Arch Manning, whose college arc has been uneven enough to complicate his draft stock after once looking like a cant-miss prospect. Miami would still have to weigh whether the long view is worth the risk, especially with the memory of other highly regarded passers who took time to find their footing before settling in as franchise pieces. Dolphins Face A Risky Austin Jackson Decision After 0-5 Start
With the Dolphins off to a 0-5 start, the front office suddenly has a delicate decision looming on the offensive line. Austin Jackson is in the final year of his contract, and Miami has until Nov. 10 to decide whether to move him, a call that could carry more weight because the teams bye week gives it a little extra time to sort through the consequences.
The problem is what comes after Jackson, because the depth chart does not offer much comfort. Caedan Wallace is the most likely immediate replacement, but he has only two career starts, and the other tackle options behind him are even less experienced, which makes any move feel far riskier than a typical deadline trade. Dolphins Bye Week Just Put Malik Willis Under A Bigger Spotlight
Miamis early-season reset has already taken a hard turn, with the Dolphins moving on from franchise quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and turning to Malik Willis on a three-year deal. The results have been uneven through an 0-5 start, but the broader picture is clear enough: this is a rebuilding team, and Willis has been the one asked to steady it while the roster around him keeps changing.
The bye week only sharpens the focus on what comes next, because there is no quick escape from the conversation now. Head coach Jeff Hafley has kept Willis in the starting role, and the organization is sticking with that plan as the season moves along. For a Dolphins team trying to sort out its direction, the bigger question is no longer whether Willis gets another week, but what this stretch ultimately says about his place in the franchises future.
