Titans Could Really Use A Coach Like Mike Vrabel

Amidst a challenging season start, Coach Robert Saleh's candid postgame remarks shed light on the Titans' strategic missteps and missed opportunities against the Ravens.

The Tennessee Titans left Baltimore with another loss, another frustrating finish and another week without a win in 2026. A 24-18 defeat to the Ravens dropped Tennessee to 0-4, and while the defense helped keep things alive after halftime, the damage from a 24-7 first-half hole was already done.

Head coach Robert Saleh didn’t hide from how strange the game felt afterward. Asked about Tennessee coming up short despite blanking Baltimore in the second half, he called it frustrating and then landed on a word that fit the day.

"It was frustrating overall from a viewing standpoint," Saleh said. "Offense came out with a lot of juice.

It was a goofy game. It didn't feel like 24-7 at halftime.

But I do appreciate the fact that everyone came out and fought. But overall disappointing."

The Titans had chances to make the game look very different, and they missed too many of them. Against a Ravens team built to punish mistakes, Tennessee made too many of its own and never quite gave itself a real shot at the road upset.

A big swing moment came in the red zone, where the Titans kept leaning on the run. They handed the ball off seven straight times in the second quarter, then came away empty after getting stopped on fourth-and-goal. Saleh backed offensive coordinator Brian Daboll and said the staff was trying to make the right call based on what it had seen.

"Felt like we were running the ball pretty well," Saleh said. "That's something I'll defintely have a conversation with Daboll about.

In those situations, the guys work their tails off to call the best plays in that situation based on what we've seen on tape. I'm pleased with the preparation that goes into it.

We'll figure out what we have to do better."

That kind of caution has followed Tennessee all season, and it has kept the offense stuck in neutral. The play calling has been conservative, and it has left Cam Ward without much room to operate when the game tightens up.

Even with the loss, there was a bright spot worth circling: rookie wideout Carnell Tate. The Tennessee first-rounder fumbled once, but he also put together the kind of day that showed why the Titans took him with the No. 4 overall pick in April, finishing with nine catches for 145 yards.

Saleh had plenty of praise for the rookie.

"He's a young kid and he's going to get better. He's going to get more consistent. He's going to be a good player for a while."

Tate has been building momentum over the last two weeks and has started to emerge as Tennessee’s top target. At 21, he looks like a receiver who can grow into a true No. 1 option, and Week 4 was another reminder of what he can bring when the Titans get him involved.

Now Tennessee heads back home for a matchup with the winless Houston Texans at Nissan Stadium. One AFC South team is going to get its first win of the year, and the Titans will find out whether that team is them.

Marcus Stokes Just Put Memphis In A Bigger Quarterback Spotlight

Marcus Stokes keeps giving Memphis a reason to pay closer attention to its quarterback room. The University of Memphis signal-caller has been named to the Davey OBrien Davey Double Great 8 and the Davey OBrien Award Midseason Watch List, recognition that lands alongside a strong start to his season and another nod from the American Athletic Conference as Offensive Player of the Week.

The national attention is backed by production, too, with Stokes ranking ninth in the FBS in completion percentage and sixth in passing touchdowns. For Memphis, the awards are more than just individual hardware. They reinforce how central Stokes has become to the offense, and they put a brighter spotlight on every performance that follows as the season moves deeper into conference play. [Read more 🡒]

Seth Henigan Keeps Giving Memphis Fans Another Reason To Pay Attention

Seth Henigan keeps adding to a season that has made him hard to ignore, and his latest outing against Charlotte earned him another spot on the Manning Award Stars of the Week list. The Memphis quarterback was one of eight players honored after completing 20 of 25 passes for 318 yards and five touchdowns, while also chipping in 61 rushing yards as the Tigers continued to lean on his efficiency and explosiveness.

The performance only added to a growing stack of weekly recognition for Henigan, who has already collected other honors and sits near the top of several national statistical categories. For Memphis, that kind of consistency has turned into a weekly reason to keep watching, especially when a drive can flip in a hurry and a long completion can change the feel of the game in one snap.
