The University of Memphis football team now knows when and where it will open American Conference play at Charlotte.
The Tigers’ trip to face the 49ers is set for Saturday, Oct. 3, with kickoff at 2:30 p.m. CT. The game will air on ESPN+.
Memphis enters the matchup at 3-1 and will be coming off an open week. The Tigers’ most recent outing was a 45-21 win over UT Martin on Sept.
- Charlotte, meanwhile, is 0-3 and will play Louisiana before hosting Memphis.
This one has already produced two tight finishes in the brief series history. Memphis is 2-0 against Charlotte, but neither meeting came easy.
In 2023, the Tigers had to rally from a 10-point deficit just to force overtime before pulling out the win. Last season, Memphis survived with a 33-28 home victory after a late scoring drive.
Through the first three weeks of the season, Memphis has put up big numbers on offense. The Tigers rank 15 th in team passing efficiency at 183.05, third in first down offense with 89, and 16 th in total offense at 508.0.
The defense has had a different kind of impact from week to week. Memphis is 16 th nationally in interceptions with four in one game, 10 th in total sacks with 10, and 22 nd in red zone defense. The Tigers have only one sack in their last two games, but the overall production has still kept that unit near the top of the national charts.
