Marcus Stokes picked up his first conference recognition of the season Monday morning, landing an American Conference weekly honorable mention after another efficient day directing Memphis’ offense.
The West Florida transfer was at the center of a 25-21 win over UT Martin, helping the Tigers post their third straight 500-yard outing. Stokes matched his career best with 26 completions and finished with 258 passing yards and four touchdowns.
His 81 percent completion rate was the best by a Memphis quarterback since Brady White posted the same mark against Southern in 2019, and he completed nine more passes than White did in that game. He also became the first Tiger since Seth Henigan against UAB in 2024 to throw four touchdown passes in a contest.
Stokes’ early-season production has Memphis rolling offensively through three weeks. The Tigers are 15th in team passing efficiency at 183.05, third in first down offense with 89, and 16th in total offense at 508.0.
Individually, the redshirt junior has stacked up among the nation’s better quarterbacks as well. He ranks third in passing yards with 1,053, tied for sixth in passing touchdowns with nine, 13th in passing efficiency at 185.9 and 24th in completion percentage at 71.4.
Memphis sits at 3-1 and is in an open week before opening American Conference play on the road at Charlotte on Oct. 3.
The kickoff time and network have not yet been set. Charlotte is 0-3 and will face Louisiana before hosting the Tigers.
