Joe Milton Finally Gets Chance To Prove Tennessee Right

Amid a turbulent season and injuries to key players, Joe Milton steps up as the starting quarterback for the Eagles' Week 9 clash with the Giants.

The Philadelphia Eagles are making a quarterback switch in Week 9, and the move puts Joe Milton in line for his first NFL start.

With Jalen Hurts sidelined for the year because of blood clots, and with DeVonta Smith and Saquon Barkley missing time every other week, Philadelphia’s 2026 season has gone sideways. At 2-6, the Eagles are staring at a rough road ahead, and the team is now taking a look at whether it has a long-term backup for Hurts already on the roster.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Tanner McKee is being benched and Milton will start Sunday against the New York Giants.

Milton’s path to this moment has been a winding one. He entered the league as a sixth-round pick, No. 193 overall, by the New England Patriots in the 2024 NFL Draft.

That pick originally belonged to the Jacksonville Jaguars, who dealt it to New England in the Mac Jones trade. The Patriots later moved Milton to the Dallas Cowboys before the 2025 NFL Draft.

His biggest NFL action so far came in New England’s 2024 season finale, when he played most of the game and turned in a sharp showing against Buffalo. Milton completed 22 of 29 passes for 241 yards and a touchdown, good for 75.9% completions, in a 23-16 win over the Bills.

Now he gets the first start of his NFL career. The Eagles and Giants are set to kick off at 1:00 p.m. ET.

Mike Norvell's Post-Memphis Run Just Reopened An Old Tigers Debate

Mike Norvells firing at Florida State has put his name back in the spotlight, and for Memphis fans, it also brings back a familiar question about what his run here really meant. Norvell left the Tigers after building the program into a steady winner and earning a bigger job, and now his seven-year tenure in Tallahassee has ended with Florida State turning to Rick Stockstill as interim coach while it begins a national search.

The move adds a new chapter to an old debate that never fully went away in Memphis: how much of Norvells rise was proof of his coaching ceiling, and how much was tied to the situation he inherited and improved here. His dismissal on Nov. 1, 2026, and his 41-39 record at Florida State only sharpen the contrast, giving Tigers fans another reason to revisit the legacy of a coach whose post-Memphis path has been anything but simple. Iowa State Just Got An Early Reality Check On This Team

Iowa State walked into its season opener as the heavy favorite and walked out with a reminder that early expectations mean little once the games begin. Memphis handed the Cyclones a loss in a matchup that exposed some immediate issues on both ends, with the defense not nearly as sharp as it needs to be and the offense never really finding a steady rhythm.

For a team trying to blend together so many new pieces, the opener also made clear how much work remains on the chemistry front. The Cyclones will need cleaner possessions, better scoring balance and a more connected effort defensively if they want to look like the kind of team that can live up to the preseason hype.
