Former NFL linebacker Darron Lee is facing serious legal challenges as he prepares for his murder trial. Lee, 31, is accused of the first-degree murder of Gabriella Perpetuo and tampering with evidence.
During a preliminary hearing, prosecutors presented unexpected allegations, claiming Lee used ChatGPT to seek advice on handling an "unresponsive person" after Perpetuo's death. They assert these inquiries were made from Lee's phone.
Furthermore, it's alleged that Lee asked the AI about injuries consistent with a fall in the shower. Bodycam footage captured Lee telling officers that Perpetuo "may have slipped and fallen," though he claimed ignorance of the circumstances surrounding her injuries.
Tragically, Perpetuo, 29, was discovered with multiple stab wounds, black eyes, and other severe injuries, including blunt force trauma, which the autopsy confirmed as her cause of death. The crime scene in Tennessee was described as chaotic, with blood found in nearly every room of the house, and detectives noted the presence of cleaning supplies.
Prosecutors have not ruled out pursuing the death penalty if Lee is convicted. In addition to the criminal case, he faces a $50 million wrongful-death lawsuit.
