Boise State’s home opener brings a ranked-level feel to Albertsons Stadium on Saturday, with the Broncos and Memphis set for a Week 2 matchup that already has plenty of attention attached to it.
Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. Mountain time, and the game will air live nationally on USA Network. Boise State enters at 0-1 and 0-0 in Pac-12 play, while Memphis comes in at 2-0 and 0-0 in the American.
The latest FanDuel line has Boise State installed as a 9.5-point favorite, with the over/under sitting at 55.5 points.
Memphis coach Charles Huff made it clear this isn’t being treated like a routine early-season test. During his Monday press conference, the first-year Tigers coach praised Boise State in blunt terms.
“Fear. Appropriate fear,” Huff said.
“They’re a good team. You don’t go into Eugene and battle the No. 2 team in the country the way they did with confidence, and it wasn’t a bunch of fluke stuff.
… You put the film on, and they’re running real football plays, they’re tackling real football players.”
“That’s a real football team. They should be a Power 4 team, in my opinion.
When you look at them, that’s how they look. That’s how they play.
That’s how the culture is driven.”
Memphis has already opened the season with wins over UNLV and Arkansas State. Boise State, meanwhile, is looking to bounce back after a 34-27 loss at No. 6 Oregon to start the year.
The starting lineups for both teams are set for Saturday’s matchup at Albertsons Stadium.
