The Memphis Grizzlies have been hit hard by injuries this season, and the latest blow comes with Scotty Pippen Jr. sidelined for the remainder of the year. Following a sesamoidectomy on his right big toe, Pippen is expected to make a full recovery in time for the 2026-27 season.
If this scenario sounds all too familiar, that's because it is. Pippen underwent the same procedure on his left foot back in October, which delayed his season debut until early February. Given that timeline, his current situation seemed almost inevitable.
Despite these setbacks, Pippen has been a bright spot for the Grizzlies when on the court. In just over 21 minutes per game across 10 appearances, he averaged 11.4 points, 4.7 assists, and 1.9 steals. Last season, he was a reliable contributor off the bench in 79 games.
Unfortunately, Pippen isn't the only Grizzly dealing with injuries. Key players like Ja Morant, Brandon Clarke, Zach Edey, and others have also missed significant time, contributing to a challenging season for Memphis. Adding to the woes, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope was ruled out last month, further complicating the team's efforts to find consistency.
The Grizzlies are undoubtedly looking forward to a fresh start next season, hoping to have their roster back at full strength and ready to compete.
