The Grizzlies have officially completed their deal with Zach Cleveland, locking in the undrafted rookie on an Exhibit 10 contract more than three months after the agreement was first reported.
Memphis announced the move on October 12, finalizing the signing that was initially reported on June 26 by Liberty’s men’s basketball team.
Cleveland comes in as a 6’7″ forward who spent all four of his college seasons with the Flames and moved into the starting lineup as a sophomore in 2023/24. His final season at Liberty was his best statistically, and it earned him Conference USA Player of the Year honors in 2025/26 after he put up 11.9 points, 7.6 rebounds, 6.8 assists, 1.3 steals, and 1.3 blocks in 34.9 minutes per game over 33 contests.
The scoring totals don’t jump off the page, but Cleveland’s value is in the full package. He brings size, activity, and versatility, doing a little bit of everything for a team. In his pre-draft guide, Sam Vecenie of The Athletic slotted him 68th among wings, calling him “wildly athletic” and praising his passing while also pointing to the need for a more dependable shot.
That shooting question is real. Cleveland took just 36 three-pointers in his entire college career and made only four, finishing at 11.1% from deep.
The Exhibit 10 gives Memphis a flexible path with the rookie. It’s a non-guaranteed camp deal that can pay a bonus of up to $91K if he’s waived before the season and then spends at least 60 days with the team’s G League affiliate, and it can also be converted into a two-way contract before opening night.

Ja Morant Debate Is Already Heating Up In Grizzlies Preseason
Ja Morants preseason return has already given Memphis plenty to monitor, even in a game where the Grizzlies were more focused on ramping up than making a statement. Morant logged limited minutes against the London Lions, but the most replayed moment was a dunk that briefly reminded everyone of what he can still do when he gets loose in space. For a team trying to balance caution with optimism, every small burst matters, especially with Morants activity level and chemistry with teammates under the microscope.
The reaction online was immediate because the play invited comparison to the more explosive version of Morant fans remember from before his injury. Preseason is supposed to be about building rhythm, yet it can also become a referendum on what a star looks like physically after a layoff, and that is where the conversation around Morant is heading. Memphis does not need a viral clip to know what its franchise guard means, but it does need him trending in the right direction, and the broader debate about where his game goes from here is already starting to take shape.
