Grizzlies Face A Tough Ty Jerome Decision At The Deadline

As the trade deadline looms, NBA insiders suggest Ty Jerome's potential move to the Grizzlies could reshape their roster dynamics.

Ty Jerome’s name is already circling the trade market, and the Memphis Grizzlies may have a tough decision coming by the February deadline.

Jerome has turned heads with a 40-point outing last Monday and has put together an impressive season overall, which is why the chatter around his value keeps building. According to Siegel, the idea of Memphis moving the 29-year-old is very much in play. He said he is “buying” the possibility and called Jerome “one of the top trade candidates on the market.”

The logic is straightforward from Memphis’ side. Siegel pointed to Grizzlies general manager Zach Kleiman’s preference for draft capital, saying the team could look to turn Jerome into picks. He also predicted that Jerome would be “moved to a team that is going to be making the playoffs and is going to be in the championship mix.”

Jerome’s contract situation only adds to the intrigue. “He’s [Jerome] going to be pretty much entering the final year of his contract near the trade deadline because he has that player option that he can decide on in the offseason,” Siegel said.

“He’s going to be declining that to get a major payday for what he’s done with Memphis…And now there’s going to be teams out there that need key point guards, he’s on a very team-friendly contract. Virtually any team in the league can absorb his deal and not be bearing any financial ramifications at that point.”

For now, it’s still just a possibility. Whether the Grizzlies actually pull the trigger before the deadline remains to be seen.

Isaiah Stewarts Pistons Reputation Still Says Everything About His Edge

Isaiah Stewarts reputation has followed him from Detroit to Memphis, and it still says plenty about the edge he brings every time he steps on the floor. In a recent interview, Stewart talked about being viewed as one of the toughest players in the NBA and how that image can shape the way opponents approach him, especially when games get heated and emotions start to spill over.

For the Grizzlies, that kind of intensity is part of the appeal after acquiring Stewart in June 2026 as part of a cap-clearing move with the Pistons. He also looked back on the altercations that helped build that reputation, saying they taught him lessons even as they became part of the story around him, which is exactly why his presence remains such an intriguing fit in Memphis. Grizzlies Early Slide Is Exposing A Bigger Roster Problem

Memphis 6-0 start had the Grizzlies looking like one of the leagues early surprises, but the last stretch has brought a much harsher reality. Losses to teams with worse records have put a spotlight on the same issues that can derail a young roster fast: shaky defense, cold shooting from deep and too many possessions ending in empty trips.

Jerami Grant, Ty Jerome, GG Jackson, Zach Edey and Cameron Boozer have all been part of the uneven stretch, which is a reminder that this group is still sorting itself out. For a team trying to build something sustainable, the early slide is less about one bad week than the bigger question it raises about how much margin Memphis really has while the roster continues to take shape.
