The Memphis Grizzlies return home on the heels of a five-game skid, looking to steady the ship against one of the Western Conference’s top-tier teams-the Minnesota Timberwolves.
At 18-28, Memphis is tied for its longest losing streak of the season, and the latest setback-a 114-106 loss to the Pelicans on the road-only added to the frustration. The Grizzlies have struggled to find consistency, and injuries continue to cloud the outlook.
Minnesota, on the other hand, is rolling. The Timberwolves have been one of the West’s most complete teams this season, and a huge part of that success has been the leap from Anthony Edwards.
He’s playing like a bona fide superstar, averaging 29.3 points per game while shooting just under 50% from the field. His combination of explosiveness, shot creation, and improved efficiency has made him a nightmare matchup for any defense-and he’ll be a focal point for Memphis tonight.
To make matters more challenging for the Grizzlies, the Timberwolves are expected to have their full rotation available. That kind of depth and continuity has been a luxury for Minnesota, and it’s showing up in the win column.
Memphis, meanwhile, enters the game banged up. Jaren Jackson Jr., who’s been one of the few bright spots for the team this season, is listed as doubtful with a quad contusion. John Konchar, a key role player off the bench, is also doubtful due to an anterior triangle contusion.
There is a potential silver lining, though: Ty Jerome, the free agent addition who has yet to suit up this regular season, is listed as questionable. If he’s able to go, it would mark his long-awaited debut and give Memphis some much-needed playmaking depth in the backcourt.
This isn’t the first time these two teams have met this season. Back on December 17, the Grizzlies went into Minnesota and pulled off a gritty 116-110 win-one of their more impressive performances of the year. That win was a reminder that, even in a tough season, Memphis still has the talent to compete with the league’s best when things click.
Historically, the Timberwolves hold a narrow edge in the all-time series, 58-55, so there’s no shortage of familiarity between these squads.
Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. CT at FedExForum, and the game will stream on the FanDuel Sports App.
For Memphis, it’s more than just another game-it’s a chance to stop the bleeding, defend home court, and maybe, just maybe, start building some momentum. But against a surging Timberwolves team with a red-hot Anthony Edwards, they’ll need to bring their best.
