Cam Boozer’s rookie season is already stacking up like something out of a record book.
The former No. 3 overall pick was at it again in the Memphis Grizzlies’ 31-point win over the Sacramento Kings, finishing with a season-high 27 points on 8-of-14 shooting. He added nine rebounds and three assists, knocked down three of his seven 3-point attempts and went a perfect 8-for-8 at the line.
That outing pushed the 19-year-old into a place no player in NBA history had reached this quickly: he became the fastest to get to 100-plus points, 50-plus rebounds and 25-plus assists, doing it in just six games.

And while the rest of the league has spent the early part of the season chasing perfection, Memphis is the team still standing alone. Not the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Not the Philadelphia 76ers. Not the San Antonio Spurs.
Not the Detroit Pistons, Boston Celtics or New York Knicks. It’s the Grizzlies who are the NBA’s last unbeaten squad.
The path there hasn’t exactly been brutal. Memphis has beaten the Kings twice by a combined 42 points, taken care of the Jazz twice by a combined 25 points, knocked off the Golden State Warriors and handed the Portland Trail Blazers their first and only loss so far in a 21-point road win on Thursday to close out a four-game trip.
Ty Jerome has been a major part of that start, and so have Zach Edey, Cedric Coward and Jaylen Wells, among others.
But Boozer has been the headline act. He’s one of six players averaging a double-double, and through six games he’s putting up 17.7 points, 10.5 rebounds and 5.7 assists while shooting 36.8 percent from 3 and 96.6 percent from the free throw line. If the season ended today, he would be the only qualified rookie in history to average at least 17.5 points, 10.5 rebounds and 5.5 assists as a rookie.
He also recently became the second-youngest player ever to record a triple-double.
The schedule ahead doesn’t look like a major obstacle either. Memphis is set to face New Orleans on Monday, then the shorthanded Pacers and Thunder on Wednesday and Friday before matchups with the Raptors, Nuggets, Pelicans again, Nets and Wizards.
That gives Boozer another chance to keep widening the gap in the Rookie of the Year conversation. Even with other rookies making noise, his all-around production and impact on winning are making a strong early case.

Grizzlies Unbeaten Start Faces A New Concern Before Pelicans Game
Memphis has opened the season unbeaten, but the first real pregame concern on the injury front is starting to take shape ahead of its meeting with New Orleans. The Pelicans are dealing with a mixed report of their own, with Trey Murphy III listed as probable even as he works through bilateral patella tendinopathy, while Yves Missi and Jordan Poole have already been ruled out.
For the Grizzlies, the attention turns to their own availability list, where Scotty Pippen Jr. is doubtful and Quinten Post is questionable. It is the sort of early-season wrinkle that can matter even in a game that already carries plenty of weight, especially for a Memphis team trying to keep its strong start intact while managing bodies before the matchup tips. Grizzlies Are Finally Seeing Why Tuomas Iisalo Trusted His System
Tuomas Iisalos first full season guiding the Grizzlies drew plenty of skepticism, mostly because of the way he handled his rotation. The short, high-intensity stints were easy to question when Memphis was trying to find its footing, but the roster looks different now with more key players healthy and the offense starting to reflect the structure Iisalo has been building all along.
The payoff has shown up in the way the ball moves and in the expanded responsibilities for players who are being asked to do more than before, including Isaiah Stewart and Cam Spencer. For a team that spent much of last season getting judged through the lens of its coachs methods, this early stretch is at least offering a clearer picture of why Iisalo stayed committed to his system. Young Grizzlies Put Early Momentum To The Test Against Pelicans
The Grizzlies head into Monday nights matchup with New Orleans at FedExForum carrying some early-season momentum after a win over Sacramento, and the timing makes this one feel like a useful measuring stick for a young Memphis group. The game is set for 7 p.m. CST on Nov. 2, 2026, with both teams still sorting through roster changes and trying to establish an identity in the opening stretch of the season.
For Memphis, the bigger question is less about the opponent than about whether the recent progress can hold up once the schedule starts asking for it again. Jerami Grant has already pointed to the team's performance as a reason for optimism, and now the Grizzlies get a chance to see whether that edge carries over against a Pelicans team that should give them a different kind of test on their home floor.
