He may not be the kind of prospect who fills a highlight package every night, but he keeps making the right plays, and that matters. Boozer reads the floor well for someone his age, and he’s already flashing the traits of a high-level offensive hub.
That’s part of why Memphis feels like such a strong fit. The Grizzlies may not have been the flashiest destination on paper, but they give Boozer a real chance to step in and become a centerpiece early.

Sure, he’ll probably run into some blocked shots early in his career, but he’s looked confident finishing at the rim, and verticality hasn’t been a major issue yet.
For all the talk about floor, Boozer has somehow been treated like a player whose ceiling is in question. That doesn’t add up. Duke has produced plenty of NBA talent, and Cam Boozer was one of the best freshmen the program has ever had.
When a young player already has this many strengths, the upside is right there in plain sight. His basketball IQ, playmaking, and scoring versatility give him a base to build on, not a ceiling to bump into.
AJ Dybantsa, Darryn Peterson, and Caleb Wilson deserve the praise they’re getting, but that shouldn’t come at Boozer’s expense. Memphis may have landed a player who is still very much growing into what he can become.
