Maryland’s secondary just got a major boost heading into 2026 - and it comes from a familiar face. Cornerback Jamare Glasker is officially back for his second and final season with the Terps, the program announced Monday evening.
This isn’t a surprise, but it’s still a big deal. Glasker becomes the second cornerback to confirm his return this offseason, joining fellow defensive back Dontay Joyner. And while Joyner was the first defender to make it official, Glasker’s return might carry even more weight given the impact he made in 2025.
A local product out of Potomac High School in Maryland, Glasker transferred to College Park last offseason from Wake Forest. He was a key addition for defensive backs coach Aazaar Abdul-Rahim, filling a critical need in Maryland’s secondary. His commitment was a win on the recruiting trail too - Maryland beat out Ole Miss, Florida, and Michigan for his services, with the Wolverines pushing hard late in the process.
For Glasker, coming home wasn’t just about football - it was personal.
“I had a meeting with Coach Locks at the end and Coach Aazaar. Everything was smooth, man.
I’m just back home,” Glasker said. “Me and Aazaar know people we’re familiar with, Coach Locksley also, so it’s just crazy how I ended up back home.
My story, how I came up is crazy and Coach Aazaar had the same story. Coach Locks did too.
I feel like we’re going to get it rolling well.”
That connection translated to the field in a big way. Glasker wasted no time making his presence felt in 2025, leading the team with four interceptions.
He picked off passes in three straight games - Nebraska, UCLA, and Indiana - and took one to the house against the Bruins. That kind of playmaking in the secondary is hard to come by, and it gave Maryland a much-needed edge in tight matchups.
But Glasker wasn’t just a ballhawk. He also brought physicality and versatility, finishing the season with six tackles for loss - fourth-most on the team - and 32 total tackles. For a cornerback, those are impressive numbers that speak to his ability to defend both the pass and the run.
Before arriving in College Park, Glasker spent two seasons at Wake Forest, where he appeared in 18 games and started nine. His 2024 season saw him step into a starting role, recording 37 tackles, four pass breakups, and an interception. That experience clearly paid off once he got to Maryland, where he emerged as one of the defense’s most reliable playmakers.
Now, with one more season ahead of him, Glasker has a chance to build on that momentum. For Maryland, his return shores up a secondary that’s looking to take another step forward in 2026. And for Glasker, it’s one more chapter in a homegrown story that’s still being written - but already delivering on its promise.
