Josh Allen Breaks Silence On Stefon Diggs Drama

As two former teammates head to the Super Bowl with a division rival, Josh Allen strikes a balance between heartfelt praise and honest frustration.

Josh Allen isn’t suiting up for Super Bowl LX, but two of his former wideouts-Stefon Diggs and Mack Hollins-are. And while Allen’s not shy about showing love to his old teammates, he’s also not sugarcoating what it feels like watching them compete for a ring… with a division rival.

Diggs and Hollins, now with the New England Patriots, are gearing up to face the Seattle Seahawks on the sport’s biggest stage. For Allen, it’s a bittersweet moment.

These are guys he knows well-guys he’s gone to battle with, guys who know what it takes to put in the work. So yeah, he’s happy for them.

But seeing them in Patriots colors, just four quarters away from hoisting the Lombardi Trophy, hits a little different.

“Very happy for [Diggs],” Allen said in a recent interview. “I got nothing but love and respect for Stef… and Mack Hollins, too.

Those are guys that play football the right way. They work extremely hard, they practice even harder.

Very, very happy for both of those guys. …It sucks to see an AFC East division rival get in over you, but they obviously deserve to be there.”

That last line says a lot. Allen’s not just watching two old teammates chase a championship-he’s watching them do it with a team that stands in direct competition with his own.

The Patriots making it to the Super Bowl while the Bills fell short? That stings.

Especially when you consider how close Allen and Diggs once were on the field, even through the ups and downs that eventually led to Diggs being traded to Houston in the spring of 2024.

Despite the rocky ending, Diggs has been vocal about his respect for Allen, calling him a “Hall of Fame quarterback” and expressing appreciation for the Bills fanbase. So there’s clearly no bad blood-just the reality of how fast things can change in the NFL.

As for who Allen’s pulling for on Super Bowl Sunday? That’s not much of a mystery.

He’s tight with Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold, and that connection is enough to tip the scales. But let’s be honest-Allen’s a Buffalo Bill through and through.

And seeing the Patriots in the big game? That’s never going to sit easy.

“As a Bill and a Bills fan, I don’t know if anyone is going to be rooting for the Pats,” Allen said. “With that being said, I’ve got so much love and respect for a lot of guys on that team, [head coach Mike Vrabel] included.

He’s a fantastic coach. He’s a fantastic person.”

Vrabel, who took over in New England, has clearly earned Allen’s respect. And given the Patriots’ resurgence under his leadership, it looks like Allen and the Bills will be seeing plenty more of him-and this retooled New England squad-in the years ahead.

So while Allen watches from home this weekend, he’ll be cheering for his friend in Seattle, tipping his cap to former teammates chasing a ring, and no doubt using the moment as fuel for the next run. Because if there’s one thing we know about Josh Allen-it’s that he’s not built to sit on the sidelines for long.
