Baba Oladotun Shines in Unexpected Return for Blake High School

Baba Oladotun's triumphant return propels Blake High School to the state championship, setting the stage for a promising future with Maryland basketball.

With Maryland basketball's 2025-26 season wrapping up, Terps fans have plenty to look forward to, especially with the spotlight on a promising new talent. Enter Baba Oladotun, a five-star recruit who’s poised to make waves for Maryland next season.

Oladotun’s journey has been anything but typical. After sitting out the entire season at Blake High School due to injury, he made a triumphant return in the MPSSAA Class 4A semifinal against Meade.

His impact was immediate and impressive. In just 18 minutes, Oladotun scored 11 points on 5-of-13 shooting and grabbed four rebounds.

But it was his clutch performance in overtime that truly shone. With the game tied at 64 and a teammate missing two crucial free throws, Oladotun stepped up, delivering the decisive shot that propelled Blake into the Class 4A state championship.

This sets the stage for an all-Montgomery County showdown as Blake faces Walt Whitman High School. The championship game tips off at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 14, at the Chesapeake Employers Insurance Arena in Baltimore. Fans can snag their tickets starting at noon on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Maryland women’s basketball is gearing up for a marquee matchup against UConn on December 5 in the Women’s Champions Classic, promising an exciting clash of titans.

In wrestling, Braxton Brown has clinched a spot in the NCAA Championships, showcasing the depth of talent within the Maryland program.

On the baseball diamond, pitchers Logan Hastings and Lance Williams have been recognized for their standout performances, earning spots on the College Baseball Fund’s National Pitcher of the Year watch list.

Rounding out the highlights, Maryland women’s basketball stars Yarden Garzon and Saylor Poffenbarger have been named to the Women’s College All-Star Game Watch List. With only 20 players set to compete on April 4, their inclusion underscores their exceptional skills and contributions to the team.

As Maryland’s athletic programs continue to shine across various sports, fans have much to anticipate in the coming months.
