LSU is heading into one of the louder road settings on its schedule Saturday night, and Whit Weeks is expecting the scene in Oxford to match the moment.
The Tigers linebacker said Tuesday that Vaught-Hemingway Stadium should be even more charged than it was when LSU played there last season, with Lane Kiffin’s return to Ole Miss only adding to the noise.
“I bet it’ll be even more rowdy this year than last year,” Weeks said. “We know we’re walking into a hostile environment, but anytime you go on the road in the SEC, it’s like that. It’s a lot of fun, so we’re looking forward to it for sure.”
Kiffin said Monday that he thinks the pressure is on Ole Miss this week, but Weeks made it clear LSU isn’t spending time on that angle. For him, the focus stays on the Tigers’ own preparation.
“Yeah, I think our focus this week is just on us,” Weeks said. “It’s all about us. We’ve got to come in and have a good week of preparation if we want to win the game on Saturday, just like any other week.”
Weeks also didn’t dodge the obvious part of the storyline: Kiffin’s return to Oxford. He expects the Ole Miss crowd to make its feelings known.
“I know he’s gonna get it, and I know they don’t like him up there,” Weeks said. “But he’s prepared for that.
I mean, it is what it is. He’s done it before in his career, so I know he’s more prepared than anybody.”
