SEC Star Kicked Off Team In Shocker

Young wide receiver Jahsiear Rogers, once a promising asset for Oklahoma, faces an abrupt end to his journey with the Sooners before fully showcasing his potential.

Oklahoma has moved on from one of its most promising young receivers before he ever got the chance to matter on Saturdays.

Freshman wideout Jahsiear Rogers has been dismissed from the Sooners’ football program, multiple outlets confirmed Thursday through an OU spokesperson. The school did not provide a reason, and Rogers has already been taken off the team’s online roster.

The timing lands just two days before Oklahoma meets No. 1 Texas in the Red River Rivalry, though Rogers’ departure won’t change the lineup for that game. The bigger blow is what the Sooners lose down the road: another talented receiver whose Oklahoma career never got off the ground.

Rogers arrived in Norman with real buzz. Oklahoma flipped him from Penn State just two months before last year’s early signing period after he had been pledged to the Nittany Lions since July 2024.

Once Penn State fired head coach James Franklin, Rogers began weighing other options and picked up offers from OU, Alabama, Nebraska and Wake Forest. Norman was his first stop, and he committed after that visit.

Even after trips to Alabama and Nebraska, he stayed locked in with the Sooners.

The 247Sports Composite listed Rogers as the No. 50 wide receiver in the 2026 class and a four-star prospect. He was also rated the top player out of Delaware.

At 5-foot-11, Rogers was considered undersized, but his speed and versatility gave Oklahoma plenty to work with. There was genuine optimism coming out of spring and fall camp that the Sooners could use him in a variety of ways. Reporters covering practice came away impressed, and there were also reports that he took reps in the backfield and worked as a kick returner.

That excitement spiked in the spring game, where Rogers caught five passes for 70 yards. Both marks led the Sooners.

“Noted it on in the instant reaction yesterday, but how about true freshman WR Jahsiear Rogers on Saturday?

Even with that momentum, Rogers never found a real foothold once the season started. He had not played since Oklahoma’s opener against UTEP, where he logged only six snaps.

Going into 2026, Rogers looked like one of the freshmen most likely to carve out a role for the Sooners. If he had matched the preseason hype, he might have been the receiver Oklahoma had been searching for to help replace Trell Harris.

LSU Could Get Caught In The SECs Next Transfer Fight

Lane Kiffin has already made it clear where he stands on the SECs latest transfer debate, and the LSU coach is not enthusiastic about the idea of making players sit out a year when they move from one league school to another. The proposal under discussion would amount to a year-in-residency mandate, part of the conferences broader self-governance push, and it has quickly become one of the more divisive issues on the table as SEC presidents prepare to meet and talk it through.

For LSU, the stakes go beyond the policy itself. Kiffins public criticism reflects a bigger concern around competitive balance, since a rule like that could make it harder for SEC programs to add familiar transfers while potentially sending players to other conferences instead. The discussion is still in motion, but if the league moves forward, it could reshape how LSU and the rest of the SEC navigate the transfer market. [Read more 🡒]

LSU Finally Broke Through At Kentucky But One Issue Still Looms

LSUs simulated trip to Kentucky turned into a much-needed response, as the Tigers erased a 10-point halftime deficit and came away with a 20-13 win. The defense steadied after the break and kept Kentucky off the board in the second half, while Caden Durham provided the decisive fourth-quarter touchdown to finish off a game that had started with the Tigers on their heels.

Sam Leavitts stat line showed both the promise and the problem. He completed 28 of 39 passes for 316 yards and a touchdown, but the three interceptions kept LSU from making the game feel comfortable for long stretches. The comeback was encouraging, and the result mattered, but the turnover issue still sits there as the main thing to clean up moving forward. [Read more 🡒]

Patrick Peterson Just Gave LSU Fans Another Reason To Celebrate

LSUs proud defensive tradition got another nod this week when the Southeastern Conference unveiled its 2026 Football Legends Class, and Patrick Peterson was among the names to be honored. For Tiger fans, it is a familiar reminder of how dominant Peterson was in Baton Rouge from 2008 to 2010, when he piled up major awards and finished his college run as one of the most decorated corners in school history.

Petersons LSU rsum still carries plenty of weight because what he became after leaving campus only added to the legend. He went on to a 13-season NFL career and earned multiple Pro Bowl selections, giving the Tigers another marquee figure to celebrate as the SEC prepares to recognize its latest group of greats.
