Ole Miss Loses Former Top Recruit to Transfer Portal Again

Former top-50 recruit Da'Shawn Womack is on the move again after a productive season at Ole Miss, entering the transfer portal for the second time in his college career.

Da’Shawn Womack is back in the transfer portal, and he’s doing it for the second time in his college career. After spending just one season at Ole Miss, the former blue-chip edge rusher is now looking for his third stop in three years.

Womack’s 2025 campaign with the Rebels was solid. He appeared in all 15 games and made his presence felt with 27 total tackles - 14 of them solo - along with 4.5 tackles for loss, 2 sacks, and a forced fumble. While he wasn’t a headline-grabber every week, he brought consistent energy off the edge and carved out a meaningful role in a deep Ole Miss front.

Before his stint in Oxford, Womack started his college journey at LSU, where he played two seasons from 2023 to 2024. He was part of the Tigers’ defensive rotation, logging 20 appearances but never cracking the starting lineup. Still, he managed to tally 21 tackles and 2.5 sacks over those two seasons, and 2024 saw him flash some coverage ability with four pass breakups - the first of his career.

Womack’s name might ring a bell for recruiting fans. Coming out of St.

Frances Academy in Baltimore, he was one of the top prospects in the 2023 class. According to the 247Sports Composite, he ranked as the No. 32 overall player nationally - just outside that coveted 5-star range.

With that kind of pedigree, it’s no surprise he’s still drawing interest as he hits the portal again.

Now, heading into the 2026 season, Womack has one year of eligibility left. He’s shown he can contribute in the SEC, and with the right fit, he could be a difference-maker on a team looking for veteran help on the edge. It’s not often you find a player with his blend of experience, talent, and upside still on the market this late in the cycle - but here he is, ready for one more run.
