BATON ROUGE - LSU's own Braden Augustus is stepping into a leadership role that speaks volumes about his character both on and off the field. Elected as vice chair of the SEC Student-Athlete Advisory Council, Augustus is set to bring his unique perspective and experience to the table during the upcoming SEC Spring Meetings.
Joining him in leadership is Arkansas’ Romani Thurman from the Razorback volleyball team, who will serve as the council’s chair. Together, they’ll be pivotal voices in shaping the dialogue around student-athlete experiences within the SEC.
Augustus, hailing from Baton Rouge, has just wrapped up his third year with the LSU Tigers. His journey has been marked by significant contributions, not just as a formidable presence on the offensive line, but also as a proactive leader. He has represented LSU on the SEC Football Leadership Council and has been the SEC’s voice for NCAA Football Student-Athlete Engagement.
The SEC Student-Athlete Leadership Councils are more than just titles; they are essential forums for student-athletes to connect with campus leaders and conference officials. Covering football, men’s and women’s basketball, and the broader Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC), these councils ensure that the voices of student-athletes are heard on crucial issues like wellness and playing rules.
With Augustus and Thurman at the helm, the SEC is in capable hands, poised to tackle the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead for student-athletes across the conference.
