LSU Star Da'Shawn Womack Enters Transfer Portal After One-Season Stint

After a brief but promising stint at Ole Miss, former top recruit Da'Shawn Womack is once again on the move.

Da’Shawn Womack is on the move again.

The former LSU and Ole Miss defensive end has entered the transfer portal for the second time in his college career, according to reports. After spending just one season in Oxford, Womack is now exploring his next stop-a move that adds another intriguing name to the portal this offseason.

Womack’s lone year with the Rebels was solid, if not spectacular. He totaled 27 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, and a forced fumble.

He also registered 16 pressures, good for sixth-most on the team, according to Pro Football Focus. In Ole Miss’ College Football Playoff first-round win over Tulane, Womack saw 18 snaps and made his presence felt with three tackles.

While he wasn’t a full-time starter, he clearly made the most of his opportunities.

Before landing at Ole Miss, Womack spent two seasons at LSU, where he played in 20 games and recorded 21 tackles, including 2.5 for loss. His 2025 season saw a noticeable uptick in production, even though he remained in a rotational role. It was the kind of year that suggested he was starting to put things together-flashing the upside that made him such a highly touted recruit in the first place.

And make no mistake-Womack came into college with serious buzz. A four-star prospect in the 2023 class, he was ranked as the No. 5 edge rusher nationally and the top overall player out of Maryland, per Rivals’ industry rankings. He checked in at No. 42 overall in the country, a spot that speaks to his raw talent and potential ceiling.

Now, with two SEC programs under his belt and meaningful experience in high-level games, Womack hits the portal as a battle-tested edge rusher who still has room to grow. He’s shown he can contribute in pressure situations, and with the right fit, he could be primed for a breakout.

Keep an eye on where he lands next-Womack’s journey is still very much unfolding, and his next chapter could be the one that finally unlocks his full potential.
