LSU just landed a big-time addition to its secondary - and the last name should ring a bell in Baton Rouge.
Safety Faheem Delane, a former top-75 national recruit and one of the most coveted defensive backs in the 2025 class, has committed to LSU after transferring from Ohio State. The 6-foot-2, 210-pounder brings three years of eligibility with him and a pedigree that Tigers fans are already familiar with: he’s the younger brother of Mansoor Delane, the standout cornerback who burst onto the scene for LSU in 2025.
Faheem was ranked No. 55 overall and the No. 5 safety in the country coming out of high school, according to the 247Sports Composite. He saw limited action as a true freshman with the Buckeyes, logging 81 snaps this past season, per Pro Football Focus. But make no mistake - this is a player with high-end tools and upside, and now he’s stepping into a program that just helped his brother put together an All-America campaign.
Mansoor Delane transferred to LSU from Virginia Tech ahead of the 2025 season and immediately became a cornerstone of the Tigers’ defense. His play in Baton Rouge has him trending toward being a first-round pick in this spring’s NFL Draft. Faheem now gets the chance to follow that same path - and he’ll do it under the same defensive coordinator, Blake Baker, who remains in place despite the Tigers undergoing a head coaching change this offseason.
That continuity on defense could be a major factor in Faheem’s development. Baker’s system helped Mansoor thrive, and now it’ll be Faheem’s turn to grow within that structure. With his size, athleticism, and versatility, Delane has the tools to be a difference-maker in the SEC - and LSU’s defense just got a whole lot deeper heading into 2026.
For a program that’s always looking to reload in the secondary, this is a win on multiple levels. Not only does LSU add a former top recruit with elite potential, but they also keep the family pipeline flowing - and if Faheem’s trajectory mirrors anything close to what his brother accomplished, Tiger fans are going to be hearing the Delane name a lot more in Death Valley.
