LSU Just Took Another Painful 2027 Recruiting Blow Up Front

In a strategic move bolstering their future offensive line, Texas sponsors the breakthrough commitment of five-star prospect Ismael Camara, leaving major programs SMU, LSU, and Oregon in suspense.

One of the top uncommitted names in the class of 2027 is off the board, and Texas came away with the prize.

Interior offensive lineman Ismael Camara announced Saturday that he is committing to the Longhorns, picking Texas over SMU, LSU and Oregon. The 6-foot-6, 335-pound prospect is ranked by Rivals’ industry rankings as the No. 4 interior offensive lineman, the No. 4 player in Texas and the No. 29 overall prospect in the class.

Camara’s rise has been fast. His 2025 season at Gilmer High School was his first varsity football campaign, and he arrived in Texas from France before his sophomore year of high school. He also competes in track and field for Gilmer, throwing shot put and discus.

In a June scouting report, 247Sports’ Gabe Brooks called Camara an "elite offensive line prospect with a rare combination of high-end physical tools and functional athleticism".

Both 247Sports and Rivals have drawn a comparison between Camara and former Alabama offensive tackle Kadyn Proctor, who was selected in the first round of the 2026 NFL draft by the Miami Dolphins.

For Texas, Camara is the highest-rated of its five offensive line commitments in the 2027 class. He joins Brian Swanson, the No. 17 offensive tackle in the cycle, as one of the Longhorns’ two in-state blue-chip offensive line pledges. Swanson committed to Texas on June 17.

Camara is also the third five-star commitment in the cycle for Texas. Cornerback John Meredith, the No. 2 overall prospect in the class, committed to the Longhorns on June 19. Wide receiver Easton Royal, the No. 1 player at his position, has stayed committed to Texas since November despite pressure from other SEC programs to flip him.

The loss stings for LSU and Oregon, both of which already have blue-chip interior offensive line commitments in place. LSU landed Terrance Smith on June 10, giving the Tigers a top-10 interior offensive line pledge. But the Camara miss means LSU has now watched a second five-star slip away in recent weeks after Albert Simien, the No. 2 interior offensive lineman in the class and a Louisiana native, chose Notre Dame on June 26.

Oregon added top-20 interior offensive line prospect Gus Corsair on May 7 and also has three-star Lex Mailangi in its 2027 class.

SMU entered the race with the smallest class of the group. The Mustangs’ 2027 haul stands at seven commitments, with only two blue-chip prospects. Their interior offensive line pledge is high-end three-star Qua Ford, who ranks No. 34 at the position.

LSU Baseball Still Has One Roster Concern Fans Can't Ignore

LSUs baseball roster keeps taking shape, and the latest move only adds to the sense that the Tigers are still trying to round out the right mix before the season arrives. Angel Laya, a former Oregon outfielder, is in the fold now, joining a group that already includes pitching additions like Landon Hood, Kaden Smith and Diego Velazquez as LSU continues to build depth on both sides of the roster.

Even so, the biggest lingering question is still on the mound, where the Tigers could use one more experienced starter to make the staff feel complete, ideally a left-hander. The added talent helps, but the search for that final piece has become the part of the roster watch that fans cannot quite ignore as the countdown to football season keeps rolling and attention around campus starts to split in a few directions. Garrett Temples Next Chapter Will Hit LSU Fans Right In The Heart

Garrett Temples playing days are over, closing the book on a long NBA career that made him one of the more respected veterans to come through Baton Rouge. For LSU fans, his name has always carried a little extra weight, not just because he wore the purple and gold, but because he represented the kind of steady leadership and basketball IQ that tends to linger in a programs memory long after the final buzzer.

Temples next step feels like a natural one for someone who has spent years helping younger players navigate the league, even before the title became official. It also adds another layer to a family story already woven into LSU history, since he is the son of Collis Temple Jr., the schools first African-American basketball player, which makes this transition resonate well beyond a simple career move. LSU Is Closing In On A Massive Recruiting Gamble

LSU has spent the spring making a serious run at Jalen Brewster, the consensus No. 1 prospect in the 2027 cycle, even though the elite defensive lineman is already verbally committed to Texas Tech. The Tigers have gone straight to the top with their pursuit, with Lane Kiffin and Ed Orgeron both making personal visits while defensive line coach Kevin Peoples has helped keep the pressure on and build a relationship with one of the most coveted recruits in the country.

Brewster has continued to show loyalty to Joey McGuire and the Red Raiders, but the picture around his recruitment has not stayed still. Coaching changes have created enough movement to keep LSU in the conversation, and the Tigers are clearly betting that persistence, familiarity and a clear vision for how he would fit can make this one interesting all the way to the finish.
