LSU Gets A Crucial Boost But One Auburn Question Still Lingers

LSU's tight end Trey'Dez Green is back from injury just in time for a pivotal clash against Auburn, aiming to boost the Tigers' offensive performance.

LSU got the update it wanted on Wednesday: Trey’Dez Green is off the injury report and expected back for the Tigers’ matchup with Auburn.

That’s a major lift for LSU’s offense after Green missed the last four games with a knee injury suffered in the Week 3 game against Ole Miss. His absence has been felt immediately, especially in the red zone, where losing a 6-foot-7 tight end who moves the way he does leaves a real void.

Before the injury, Green had already shown what kind of weapon he can be. In a little more than two games, he posted 14 catches for 222 yards and a touchdown. On a 12-game pace, that works out to 56 receptions, 888 yards and four scores - strong production for any tight end, and the kind of output that makes you think there’s even more in the tank.

His return also comes at a time when LSU could use it. Since Green went down, Roman Mothershed has been shifted to tight end to help cover the loss, and he’s had a few moments. But he’s not the same down-to-down threat Green is.

Now LSU gets its star back against an Auburn team that just knocked off the No. 1 team in the nation, which makes this a timely boost for the Tigers.

LSU’s Wednesday injury report listed Whit Weeks, Dashawn Spears, Phillip Wright III and Charles Ross II as out. Richard Anderson was listed as doubtful. Outside of Green’s removal from the report, Anderson was the only other notable update.

For Auburn, Tai Buster and Hunter Herring were listed out, along with Saint Farrior. Buster, a sophomore offensive lineman, has been sidelined all season but is expected back at some point. Herring, who transferred in from Louisiana Monroe, has only played in one game after serving as a solid blocking tight end there over the past couple of seasons.

LSU Tightens Game Day Rules After Ugly Scene Around Tiger Stadium

LSU is moving quickly to change the feel around Tiger Stadium after a brawl at the homecoming game forced police intervention and renewed concerns about what game day can look like on the edges of campus. University leaders said the goal is straightforward: keep the atmosphere lively, but make sure it stays safe for everyone heading to and from the stadium.

President Wade Rousse said disruptive behavior will not be tolerated, and the school is rolling out tighter crowd-control measures for football Saturdays. Those steps include more patrols, clearer separation between tailgating and other activity, and possible discipline for violations, a sign LSU is trying to get ahead of the problem before it overshadows the season any further. LSU Could Get A Huge Trey'Dez Green Boost Against Auburn

LSU may be getting a major piece back at just the right time. Tight end Trey'Dez Green was not included on the Tigers initial injury report ahead of the Auburn game, a sign he could be nearing a return after missing four straight contests with a lower-body injury suffered against Ole Miss.

Green had initially been expected to return sometime during the 2026 season after avoiding surgery, so his presence on the report is a notable step forward for LSUs offense. Even if his status is still to be finalized, the timing gives the Tigers a chance to regain size and versatility in the passing game heading into a key SEC matchup. [Read more 🡒]

LSU Gets A Needed Boost For Auburn But One Question Remains

LSU is getting a much-needed boost heading into Saturdays trip to Auburn, with tight end TreyDez Green listed as available on the SEC injury report after missing the past four games. His return gives the Tigers a little more flexibility on offense at a time when depth matters, especially with LSU trying to end a frustrating skid on the road in SEC play.

The bigger picture, though, still tilts toward uncertainty. LSU goes into a tough conference road test without the kind of clean injury report it would prefer, and Auburn is dealing with its own absences from injuries and dismissals. Greens availability helps, but the question for LSU is whether it will be enough to stabilize a lineup that has to travel into a difficult environment and finally change its road fortunes.
