EA Sports’ latest College Football simulation is buying into LSU in a big way.
In a CFB 27 run of Lane Kiffin’s debut, the Tigers rolled Clemson 44-10 behind a monster night from redshirt junior quarterback Sam Leavitt, who looked every bit like the engine of this offense. Leavitt finished 29 of 41 for 448 yards and four passing touchdowns, added 92 rushing yards, and scored again on the ground as LSU turned explosive plays into a runaway win.
The simulated version of Saturday night’s real opener at Tiger Stadium started fast and never really slowed. LSU struck first on a 72-yard touchdown from Leavitt to Florida transfer Eugene Wilson III at 13:38 of the first quarter.
Clemson answered with a 1-yard run by senior quarterback Christopher Vizzina, but Leavitt immediately flipped the script again with a 93-yard strike to Ole Miss transfer receiver Winston Watkins Jr. LSU then missed the extra point, and Clemson’s Nolan Hauser closed the quarter with a 30-yard field goal to make it 13-10.
That was as close as it got.
Midway through the second quarter, Leavitt broke loose for an 86-yard touchdown run, setting a new benchmark for a Tigers quarterback by topping Jayden Daniels’ 85-yard score against Florida in 2023. LSU kept pouring it on before halftime, getting a 1-yard touchdown pass to Kansas State transfer wideout Jayce Brown and a 30-yard Scott Starzyk field goal in the final seconds to take a 30-10 lead into the break.
Clemson never found its footing after the opening quarter. Vizzina went 10 of 25 for 90 yards, while true freshman Naeem Burroughs led the Tigers with just 31 receiving yards on two catches. Sophomore running back Gideon Davidson was one of the few bright spots for Clemson, finishing with 84 yards on 13 carries.
LSU kept control after halftime, even with a scoreless third quarter, and added two more touchdowns in the fourth. Harlem Berry scored on a 9-yard run, and Watkins caught his second touchdown of the night on a 7-yard pass from Leavitt to finish off the 44-10 blowout.
Watkins was Leavitt’s top target, hauling in 11 passes for 173 yards and two touchdowns. Berry also made his mark with 102 rushing yards and a score.
The simulation also gave a glimpse of the roster Kiffin has assembled. LSU’s 88 overall rating is the eighth-best in the game’s history, while Clemson’s 83 overall is tied for No.
- The gap reflects the transfer-heavy talent Kiffin brought in, including the nation’s No. 1 transfer class.
Still, the game didn’t line up perfectly with what LSU expects on Saturday. Wisconsin transfer Dilin Jones, who is expected to be the lead back, didn’t get a carry in the sim. Junior tight end Trey’Dez Green was also quiet, catching only three passes for 39 yards, even though he scored two touchdowns against Clemson last year and is widely expected to take another step under Kiffin and offensive coordinator Charlie Weis Jr.
Tight end Dae’Quan Wright, who has practiced with LSU this week after joining the Tigers via the new NFL transfer portal, also did not appear in the simulation.
As for whether EA Sports’ prediction will actually happen Saturday night, probably not exactly. But it did offer a flashy preview of what LSU’s offense might look like when the real thing kicks off at 6:30 p.m. in Tiger Stadium to open the 2026 season.
