Five years after LSU’s national championship visit to the White House, one clip from that celebration still has a life of its own. The “Get the Gat” video has been making the rounds again, and with it comes the woman who unexpectedly stole the spotlight: Gemi Bordelon.
Bordelon was the face fans kept asking about when the video first spread online. She was later identified as the mother of LSU left guard Bo Bordelon, and her appearance turned a short team celebration into one of the most talked-about moments from the Tigers’ trip to Washington.
Her connection to LSU runs through the family. Gemi and her husband, Ben Bordelon, were at the White House celebration because of their ties to Louisiana’s congressional delegation. Ben also has LSU roots of his own, having played football for the Tigers before later joining the San Diego Chargers.
Today, Ben serves as president and CEO of the family-owned Bollinger Shipyards. He and Gemi live in Lafourche Parish with their family, and their son Bo has carried the LSU link into the next generation.
Bo Bordelon is entering the 2026 season as a fifth-year senior and has built a versatile career along the offensive line. He has played in 42 career games, lined up at several spots up front, and even taken snaps as a short-yardage tight end. He’s also been a four-time SEC Academic Honor Roll selection.
The Bordelon family’s LSU ties don’t stop there. Gemi and Ben have three children: Bo, their younger son Brett, and their daughter Brooke. Brett has also joined the LSU football program, while Brooke keeps her Instagram private but occasionally shares family moments on her VSCO page.
Even now, the White House dance video keeps resurfacing, and Gemi Bordelon remains the unexpected star of a moment LSU fans haven’t forgotten.
