Lane Kiffins Son Knox Makes Bold High School Move in Baton Rouge

As Lane Kiffin settles into life in Baton Rouge, his son Knox makes a pivotal decision about his football future at a rising Louisiana powerhouse.

The Lane Kiffin era at LSU is officially underway, and while the headlines have cooled since his high-profile move from Ole Miss, the storylines keep coming-this time, it’s a family affair. Kiffin’s son, Knox, has made his next move, and it’s one that adds another layer to the Kiffin family’s Baton Rouge chapter.

Knox Kiffin, a Class of 2028 quarterback prospect, is set to enroll at University Lab High School-better known as U-High-in Baton Rouge this January. The decision plants the younger Kiffin right in the heart of LSU country, both geographically and culturally, as he continues to develop his game under the watchful eye of Louisiana’s passionate football community.

At 6-foot-2 and 170 pounds, Knox has already drawn early recruiting interest, including a scholarship offer from California head coach Tosh Lupoi, who previously served as an assistant at Alabama. That kind of attention for a sophomore quarterback tells you what kind of upside evaluators are seeing in him-and the tape backs it up.

Last season at Oxford High School in Mississippi, Knox put together a strong sophomore campaign. He threw for 1,236 yards and 14 touchdowns, with just two interceptions, while splitting time under center with junior Drew Dean.

Dean, for his part, finished with 1,414 yards and 12 touchdowns against three picks. The duo helped lead Oxford to an 11-2 record and a Mississippi Class 7A, Region 2 title, before the Chargers’ playoff run ended with a loss to Tupelo.

Now, Knox heads to a U-High program that went 10-3 in 2025 and made it to the third round of the Louisiana state playoffs. It’s a program with pedigree and expectations, and it offers a strong platform for the young quarterback to grow his game against top-tier competition. With the move, he’ll also be just a stone’s throw from LSU’s campus-where his father is now tasked with turning around a proud but recently turbulent program.

Lane Kiffin’s arrival in Baton Rouge came on November 30, following a rocky split from Ole Miss after six seasons at the helm. The move made waves across the SEC, and now, with his son joining the local football scene, the Kiffin name is even more entrenched in Louisiana’s football landscape.

There’s still a long way to go in Knox’s journey, but the early signs are promising. With his size, poise, and production already drawing attention, and now with a new home at U-High, he’s in a prime position to take the next step. And with his father just across town leading the Tigers, Baton Rouge will be keeping a close eye on both Kiffins in the years to come.
