Lane Kiffin is wasting no time making his mark in Baton Rouge.
Since taking over at LSU, the man long dubbed the “Portal King” is living up to the nickname - and then some. After a wildly successful run at Ole Miss leveraging the transfer portal, Kiffin has carried that same aggressive approach to LSU, reeling in a staggering 38 players so far.
That haul has vaulted LSU to the No. 1 spot in the 2026 transfer portal class rankings, according to 247Sports. And yet, there’s still one more name out there that could turn this class from elite to downright scary.
Enter Jordan Seaton.
The former Colorado left tackle - and one of the most coveted players still available in the portal - is on campus in Baton Rouge this weekend. Standing 6-foot-5 and weighing in at 330 pounds, Seaton is the kind of offensive lineman that can anchor a unit for years.
He’s currently ranked as the No. 2 offensive lineman in the portal by Saturday Blitz, and ESPN has him as the No. 4 overall player available. In other words, this is a blue-chip lineman with the kind of upside that can change the complexion of an entire offense.
Kiffin and new offensive line coach Eric Wolford are making their pitch, and the timing couldn’t be more crucial. Seaton has already visited Miami and Mississippi State, and he’s scheduled to check out Oregon on Monday.
Texas is still lurking in the background too, so this is far from a done deal. But if LSU can close here, it would be a massive win - not just for the offensive line, but for the entire trajectory of the 2026 season.
Why the urgency? Well, it starts with Sam Leavitt.
The former Arizona State quarterback was one of the most sought-after players in the portal when it opened on January 2, and he’s now set to lead the Tigers’ offense. Leavitt’s 2025 campaign ended prematurely with a season-ending ankle injury on October 25, so keeping him upright and protected will be a top priority heading into the fall. That’s where Seaton comes in.
Seaton’s pass protection numbers are eye-popping. In two seasons at Colorado, he allowed just five sacks across 948 pass-blocking snaps.
Let that sink in - nearly 1,000 opportunities for defenders to get to his quarterback, and he gave up just five sacks. That kind of consistency doesn’t just happen.
It speaks to elite technique, footwork, and football IQ. His 91.4 pass-blocking grade from this past season wasn’t just good - it was the best in the country.
LSU has already done serious work in rebuilding the offensive line through the portal, but Seaton would be the crown jewel. He’s the kind of player who can elevate the entire unit, giving Leavitt the time he needs to operate and allowing Kiffin to open up the playbook in ways that simply weren’t possible before.
This weekend’s visit is more than just a campus tour - it’s a pivotal moment for LSU’s offseason. If Kiffin and Wolford can land Seaton, it would be the signature move of an already headline-grabbing portal cycle. And it would send a clear message to the rest of the SEC: LSU isn’t just rebuilding - they’re reloading, and they’re doing it fast.
