Lane Kiffin is making waves in the recruiting world during his tenure at LSU, already securing significant wins. With 14 players signed during the Early Signing Period, including three 5-star prospects, Kiffin has shown he's got a knack for attracting top talent. Not to mention, LSU boasts the No. 1 transfer portal class, featuring standout players like QB Sam Leavitt, OT Jordan Seaton, and EDGE Princewill Umanmielen.
Now, Kiffin and his team have their sights set on 2027 WR Nick Lennear, a top-25 recruit according to Rivals Industry. Lennear is catching the eyes of major Power 4 programs nationwide.
Lennear has whittled down his choices to five schools, with LSU in the mix alongside Florida State, Texas A&M, Miami (FL), and Syracuse. But how does LSU stack up against the competition?
The buzz is that the Miami Hurricanes are leading the charge for Lennear. Rivals insider Chad Simmons suggests Miami has been setting the pace for over a year.
Lennear, a South Florida native from Opa Locka, plays for Miami Carol City Senior High School, just a short drive from the Hurricanes' campus. This proximity has allowed Miami to host Lennear for multiple unofficial visits, and he's scheduled an official visit for May 29.
Ranked as the No. 14 overall prospect and the No. 4 wide receiver in the country by the 247Sports Composite, Lennear is also the No. 2 player in Florida for the 2027 class.
While Miami seems to have the upper hand, Kiffin and LSU aren't out of the race. Tiger fans are hopeful that Kiffin's recruiting prowess will help close the gap with the Hurricanes as the battle for Lennear continues.
