LSU got one of its biggest young defenders back on the field Friday morning.
Five-star true freshman Lamar Brown returned to practice after missing Thursday’s session, and the highly touted lineman was working at edge as usual. Brown, a 6-foot-5, 294-pound prospect from University High on the LSU campus, had apparently dealt with a minor leg injury on Tuesday.
Brown has spent preseason camp rotating in with both the second team and, at times, the first team during the short media viewing windows. He is ranked by 247sports.com as the No. 1 prospect in the athlete category for the class of 2026 nationally and by On3.com as the No. 1 defensive lineman.
Elsewhere in Friday’s 10-minute viewing period, LSU’s backfield kept sorting itself out. Wisconsin transfer Dilin Jones, a redshirt sophomore, remained the first-team running back.
Stacy Gage, a redshirt sophomore transfer from Central Florida, followed Jones with carries. After that came returning backs Harlem Berry, a sophomore, and junior Caden Durham.
The Tigers are set for a full-contact scrimmage Saturday at 10 a.m. in Tiger Stadium, though it will be closed to the media. LSU held a 170-play scrimmage last Saturday.

23 Clemson at 6:30 p.m. on ABC in Tiger Stadium. ESPN’s College GameDay will be on campus for that opener, and it will return on Sept. 19 when LSU visits No.
