Georgia added a major piece to its 2027 recruiting class on Saturday, landing four-star safety Adryan Cole after a four-team SEC battle that also included LSU, Florida and Ole Miss.
Cole, a 6-foot, 195-pound defensive back from Douglasville, Georgia, gives the Bulldogs another blue-chip name in a class that is quickly taking shape. Rivals lists him as the No. 4 safety, the No. 8 prospect in Georgia and the No. 76 overall player in its Rivals 300 for 2027.
His junior season at Douglas County High School backed up the ranking. Cole finished with 69 tackles, four pass breakups, an interception and a fumble recovery. He also runs track for Douglas County, competing in the 200-meter dash and long jump.
TJ Randall of 247Sports offered a strong evaluation of Cole earlier this month, writing that he "possesses a legitimate trigger, hitting the gas oto close on intermediate routes with real authority" and noting that his "level of functional long speed won't let him down when it's time to carry routes vertically" in a July 1 evaluation.
Cole’s commitment pushes Georgia to nine blue-chip pledges in the class of 2027. The Bulldogs’ only five-star commitments so far are offensive players: running back Kemon Spell and tight end Jaxon Dollar.
On defense, Georgia had previously landed four-star linebacker Joakim Gouda on June 1 and four-star defensive lineman Antwan McKoy on June 16. Cole is now the Bulldogs’ lone committed defensive back in the class, and the only blue-chip safety among their pledges.
He would have been the highest-rated safety commit for LSU, Florida or Ole Miss as well, but each of those programs already has a blue-chip safety on board.
LSU picked up four-star safety Jayden Anding, the No. 27 safety in the Rivals 300 rankings, on July 7 after he chose to stay in state. The Tigers also flipped four-star cornerback Greedy James from Texas on July 2.
Ole Miss landed Chicago-area safety Darrell Mattison on May 22; Rivals’ industry rankings list him as the No. 36 safety. The Rebels also added top-40 cornerback Taelyn Mayo at the start of May.
Florida’s 2027 class includes four cornerback commitments, with three of them coming from blue-chip prospects. At safety, the Gators went into Oklahoma to land Kailib Dillard, the No. 23 safety in the Rivals 300 rankings.

The move also carries a little extra edge for LSU fans because Sloans next big stage comes against his old program on October 10. Kentucky believes it has added a coach who can connect with players and make an immediate imprint, and portal quarterback Kenny Minchey has already pointed to Sloan as one of the main reasons he landed with the Wildcats. LSU Finally Gets A Louisiana Rivalry Back Fans Never Wanted Gone
A familiar in-state matchup is finally back on the calendar, with LSU and Tulane set to meet again in 2030 after a 21-year break. The game will be played at Tiger Stadium, bringing one of Louisiana footballs oldest rivalries back into the spotlight after a long absence.
The series has been heavily tilted LSUs way over the years, with the Tigers leading 69-22-7 and riding an 18-game winning streak.
