Easton Royal is making waves as one of the most sought-after prospects in the 2027 recruiting class. This 5-star wide receiver, ranked No. 10 overall and No. 3 at his position by the 247Sports Composite, has strong ties to Louisiana, making LSU a natural contender for his talents.
However, Royal threw a curveball to LSU by committing to Steve Sarkisian and the Texas Longhorns back on November 29. Yet, Lane Kiffin and LSU aren't out of the race just yet, as they continue to vie for Royal's allegiance.
The competition for Royal is intensifying as several SEC powerhouses attempt to sway him. The latest twist in his recruitment saga has added even more intrigue.
Easton Royal's SEC Visits Heat Up
Royal is busy planning his official visits for the spring. He's scheduled to visit LSU from May 28-30, giving Kiffin and his staff a prime chance to make their case. In addition to LSU, Royal will be visiting the Tennessee Volunteers and Florida Gators, with a recent addition to his itinerary.
According to Rivals, Royal will also make a stop at Ole Miss this spring. With Pete Golding at the helm, Ole Miss is building momentum, attracting talent from both high schools and the transfer portal.
Royal, who committed to Texas just a day before Kiffin's LSU hiring, has maintained a strong connection with Kiffin and several LSU players. Earlier this month, he worked out with Tiger sophomore running back Harlem Berry and incoming receiver Jabari Mack.
Given Kiffin's recruiting acumen and Royal's Louisiana roots, LSU remains a formidable contender to flip this 5-star talent from Texas. It’s a tough battle, but Tiger fans are hopeful that Kiffin can pull off the win.
