LSU’s first loss of the Lane Kiffin era looked like the kind of result that could linger. Instead, the Tigers have spent the last two weeks making it look more like a speed bump.
After falling 32-24 to Ole Miss and slipping to 2-1, LSU had to answer plenty of questions about what came next. The response has been loud.
The Tigers have rolled to consecutive wins, blasting No. 23 Texas A&M 35-6 and then flattening McNeese 63-14.
The numbers from those two games tell the story pretty cleanly: LSU has scored 98 points while giving up just 20.
The Texas A&M win mattered most. LSU didn’t just get past a ranked SEC opponent; it controlled the game on both sides of the ball and left no doubt about which team was in charge.
McNeese was supposed to be a comfortable night, and LSU treated it that way. The Tigers put up 63 points, piled up 731 yards and set a school record with 101 offensive plays. That doesn’t wipe away the issues that showed up against Ole Miss, but it does make that loss look a lot less alarming than it did at the time.
Now LSU sits at 4-1 with Kentucky up next in SEC play. The Tigers have already shown they can bounce back, and that may end up being one of the most valuable traits on this team once the schedule tightens again.
The bigger question is whether this run carries over when conference play gets heavier. For the moment, though, it’s fair to ask whether the Ole Miss defeat was just a rough night instead of a preview of what LSU will be under Kiffin.

LSU Just Got Encouraging News At Two Crucial Positions
LSU got a useful dose of optimism this week on two fronts that matter a great deal to the rest of its season. Coach Lane Kiffin said tight end TreyDez Green and linebacker Whit Weeks, both lost to injuries in September, are expected to return at some point this year, offering a clearer path for the Tigers as they try to keep their momentum going. Green is out of his knee brace and moving freely, a sign that his recovery is trending the right way.
Weeks, meanwhile, is still working back from a fractured lower leg, but his situation remains part of the bigger picture for LSU as the schedule tightens. The Tigers have already managed to win recent games with other players stepping into those roles, but getting two key contributors back would deepen both sides of the ball and give LSU more flexibility when it matters most. LSU Got A Hopeful TreyDez Green Update Before SEC Play
LSU heads into SEC play this week coming off a win over McNeese, and the conversation around the program has quickly shifted to how ready the Tigers are for a tougher league stretch. Lane Kiffin offered a positive update on TreyDez Greens recovery while also touching on the broader health of the roster, a timely development as LSU starts sharpening itself for Kentucky and the grind that follows.
Kiffin also spent time sizing up the matchup on the other sideline, praising Kentuckys new head coach Will Stein and noting the coaching chess match between Joe Sloan and Blake Baker. There was more injury context as well, including the effect of Sam Leavitts hamstring issue, leaving LSU with a clearer picture of some moving parts but still a few questions to sort out before SEC play really gets rolling. LSU May Be Getting TreyDez Green Back Sooner Than Expected
LSU may be closer to getting a needed piece back in the passing game than it looked a couple of weeks ago. Tight end Trey'Dez Green has been sidelined since Week 3 with a knee injury, but head coach Lane Kiffin said Green is moving his knee and is no longer wearing a brace, a small but meaningful sign that the recovery is trending in the right direction.
The Tigers have been working without him since then, and his potential return would add another weapon to the offense heading into the Week 6 matchup with Kentucky. Kiffin stopped short of putting a firm timeline on it, but the update at least suggests Green could be back sooner than expected, which matters for a passing game still looking to settle in.
