Louisville football is making serious noise on the recruiting trail - and not just in the Transfer Portal. The Cardinals have shifted their attention to the high school ranks, and early returns from the 2027 recruiting class are turning heads across the college football landscape.
Four 4-star commitments are already in the fold, headlined by elite cornerback Allen Evans. A consensus 4-star prospect, Evans is ranked as high as No. 39 nationally and holds the top spot in the state of Kentucky.
Landing a player of his caliber is a major win for the Cardinals - especially considering the competition. Evans chose Louisville over some of the biggest names in college football, including Alabama, Penn State, Tennessee, and Michigan.
Evans isn’t the only blue-chip talent joining the Cardinals’ 2027 class. Louisville has also secured commitments from Chuck Alexander, Jack Sorgi, and D’Angelo White - all 4-star prospects in their own right. Together, this quartet has vaulted Louisville’s class to No. 11 in the national rankings, a position that has fans buzzing and the rest of the country taking notice.
But inside the program, there’s no sense of satisfaction just yet. Vince Marrow, the Cardinals’ Executive Director of Football Personnel and Recruiting, made that crystal clear with a message that’s short, sharp, and full of intent: “Not done yet.”
That’s not just a motivational catchphrase - it’s a warning shot. Because if this staff continues on its current trajectory, Louisville could be staring down its first-ever top-10 recruiting class.
From 2010 to now, the Cardinals have never cracked that barrier. But under the leadership of head coach Jeff Brohm and Marrow, that ceiling is starting to look more like a floor.
This duo has already proven they can recruit at a high level. The Cardinals just wrapped up the No. 5-ranked Transfer Portal class, according to On3 Sports. That momentum is clearly carrying over into the high school ranks, where Louisville is now outpacing traditional heavyweights like Michigan, Florida State, Tennessee, Clemson, and Oregon - at least for the moment.
And there’s more help potentially on the way. Louisville is reportedly closing in on several additional commitments, with top in-state targets Malachi Brown, Seneca Driver, and Tyler Fryman still on the board. If the Cardinals can keep that local talent home, this class could go from impressive to historic in a hurry.
What we’re seeing right now is a program that’s not just building - it’s building with purpose. Brohm and Marrow are laying the foundation for sustained success, and they’re doing it by winning battles both in the portal and on the recruiting trail. The message is loud and clear: Louisville isn’t just trying to compete - they’re coming to contend.
