Trinity High School defensive end Sebastian Blue is starting to look more and more like one of the top defensive prospects in Kentucky’s 2027 class-and college programs are taking notice.
The 6-foot-3, 260-pound pass rusher was back on Louisville’s campus last weekend, soaking in the Cardinals’ dominant 41-0 win over in-state rival Kentucky. It wasn’t just a casual visit. Blue already holds a scholarship offer from Louisville-extended back in August-and this trip marked another step in what’s becoming a strong connection between the Trinity standout and the Cardinals’ coaching staff.
Blue made the visit just a day after helping lead Trinity to a 50-7 blowout win over St. Xavier, punching the Shamrocks’ ticket to the Class 6-A state championship game. That kind of back-to-back weekend-dominating your biggest rival on Friday, then watching a Power Five program dominate theirs on Saturday-makes an impression, especially on a high school junior who’s quickly climbing recruiting boards.
“The environment was electric,” Blue said of the Louisville visit. “The coaches had a lot of great stuff to say.
We talked a lot about our game against St. X and the upcoming prep for the state championship.”
That conversation included time with defensive line coach Mark Hagen, as well as continued dialogue with Vince Marrow. Blue noted both coaches have been instrumental in building a relationship that’s starting to feel like home.
And Louisville isn’t the only school paying attention.
Blue now holds six scholarship offers, including Kentucky, Appalachian State, Florida Atlantic, Florida International, Eastern Kentucky, and Southern Miss. It’s a list that continues to grow, and it’s not hard to see why.
As a sophomore last season, Blue played in all 14 games for Trinity’s state championship team, finishing with 21 tackles, seven sacks, two tackles for loss, and a pair of fumble recoveries-one of which he took to the house. His production ramped up as the season went on, and that momentum carried into the offseason, where a strong showing at multiple camps helped boost his recruiting profile.
This year, as a junior, Blue has taken another step forward. Through 14 games, he’s racked up 36 tackles, eight sacks, and 6.5 tackles for loss.
Trinity has rolled to a 12-2 record and is heading into Saturday’s 6-A state final against South Warren. The Shamrocks have been dominant in the postseason, outscoring their opponents 220-37 over four playoff games and giving up just 9.5 points per game.
Blue’s impact is clear-he’s not just a stat-sheet guy, he’s a tone-setter on the edge. His frame, motor, and ability to disrupt plays make him a problem for opposing offenses, and with another year and a half of high school ball ahead of him, his ceiling is only getting higher.
For now, he’s focused on finishing the season strong. But make no mistake-college coaches are watching, and Sebastian Blue is firmly on the radar.
