Louisville has extended an offer to 4-star small forward Asa Montgomery, a fast-rising prospect who has become one of the most sought-after players in the cycle. Montgomery’s stock has climbed quickly. He is now ranked No. 28 in the 2027 class, No. 8 among small forwards, and No. 4 among players from Georgia. At 6-foot-7 and 200 pounds, he has already built a national profile, and the offer from Louisville only adds another heavyweight to a growing list of suitors.
That list is long. Montgomery has picked up more than 20 offers, with programs such as Auburn, Florida, Alabama, Florida State, LSU, North Carolina, Ole Miss, Texas Tech, and others all involved.
His production has backed up the hype. Montgomery was one of the top scorers in EYCL, putting up 27.9 points per game, and he also drew plenty of attention at Peach Jam. That event already featured another Louisville target, Cayden Daughtry, who took over and won MVP after averaging 32 points per game.
Montgomery also spent time on Team USA’s U17 team this year and helped the group win gold at the 2026 FIBA U17 World Cup. In that run, he averaged 9.7 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 1.3 steals.
For Louisville, the offer is the latest sign that Kelsey’s staff is pushing deep into elite territory in the 2027 class. The Cardinals are already trending with several high-end prospects, including 5-stars Darius Wabbington and DeMarcus Henry, and they’ve also been linked with top recruits while Kelsey continues to build momentum on the trail. Since arriving at Louisville, he has already landed players like Mikel Brown Jr. and Obinna Ekezie Jr., and now Montgomery joins the list of blue-chip names in play.
